About This Pub

Ah, The Carlton – it's one of those classic local pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening. I love how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome; it's that kind of place where you can pop in as a stranger and leave feeling like part of the gang. The decor is spot on, all traditional and comfy, and they've got a solid range of beers that's well-presented and varied enough to keep things interesting. Throw in the pool table and dart board, and it's ideal for a bit of banter and games with mates. Oh, and if you're out with your dog, they'll be made to feel welcome too – it's those thoughtful details that really add to the appeal. On the downside, though, the jukebox can crank up a bit too loud, which might put a damper on chats and make it hard to hear yourself think. Still, if you time your visit right and steer clear of the noisier moments, it's a cracking spot for a pint and a catch-up. All in all, it's got that genuine community feel, but it's worth keeping an eye on the music to get the best out of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The decor is beautifully done, with a comfortable and traditional pub atmosphere that's just spot on for a relaxing visit.
  • They've got a great selection of well-presented beers and beverages, offering plenty of choices to suit different tastes.
  • It's got fun extras like a pool table and dart board, perfect for a bit of friendly competition while you're there.
  • Being dog-friendly is a lovely touch, so you can bring your four-legged mate along for the outing.
Cons
  • The jukebox can get far too loud at times, which really disrupts conversations and spoils the cosy vibe.
  • It seems a bit under the radar online, with no website or claimed profile, so it might be tricky to check details in advance.

Not to much to say really, it's a nice enough pub with good sized rooms. The bar staff are friendly enough. I very rarely go out for a drink but if this establishment was en route to my evening out I would happily go in for a couple on my way. They do seem to have a good variety of beverages, enough I would think to please just about any patron.
