About This Pub

Ah, The Jolly Brewers – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles with its traditional feel, you know? From what I've gathered, it's all about that genuine, no-nonsense atmosphere where you can sink into a comfy spot and enjoy a well-poured pint of something tasty like Timothy Taylor's. The team behind the bar are an absolute delight, always up for a natter and making sure everyone feels looked after, which really adds to the charm. And if you're travelling through, the rooms are a handy bonus – clean, straightforward, and right next to the pub, making it easy for a peaceful night's kip near the station and airport. On the flip side, it's a shame they don't do food, so you might need to plan ahead for a bite to eat, and that card payment minimum could catch you out for a swift visit. All in all, it's a solid spot for a laid-back evening with mates, especially if you fancy a break from the more pretentious places – just keep expectations realistic for a bit of classic British pubbing.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got that authentic, old-fashioned pub charm that's becoming a rare gem these days, with a cosy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – super friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and a chat to make your visit memorable.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers, including local favourites like Timothy Taylor's, perfect for anyone who appreciates a proper pint.
  • The location is spot on, just a short walk from the train station and shops, and it's conveniently close to Stansted Airport without the noise.
  • If you need a place to stay, the rooms are clean and comfortable, offering good value for a quick overnight stop with handy amenities like tea-making facilities.
Cons
  • They don't serve food on site, so you'll have to sort out your meals elsewhere, which might be a bit of a nuisance if you're after a full pub grub experience.
  • There's a minimum £10 spend for card payments, which could be tricky if you're just popping in for a quick drink.
  • The facilities feel a tad basic compared to some flashier spots, so if you're expecting anything too fancy, it might not quite hit the mark.

Good Old fashion pub. There is not many of these left! Good beer and Larger. Good warm welcome with a fantastic friendly service which you would expect from a good old-fashioned pub. None of these fancy bistro want to be pub rubbish when it’s not needed.

Nice little pub stopped for a few pints of Timothy Taylors dark after a curry on way back to hotel at the airport. Just a note minimum £10 on card but they let us pay for extra for later.

The Jolly Brewers Pub does not prepare food, but good beer from the local brewery can be enjoyed here. There is a small hotel here that offers basic service for a small price.

This pub is where locals go for drinks regularly and they have the option of booking a room to stay the night if you need. The host is extremely welcoming and helpful.
