About This Pub

Ah, The Joiners Arms – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper gem when you're out for a pint or a bite with mates. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; folks rave about the stone-baked pizzas and other dishes that offer brilliant value without breaking the bank. The staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and throwing in those thoughtful extras that make your visit memorable, like a surprise treat for celebrations. And the ambiance? It's spot-on for a relaxed evening, with that peaceful beer garden and charming rooms that give it a homely feel. On the flip side, it's not perfect – you might run into a dish that's not quite right, like garlic bread that's a bit gritty or underdone, which is a shame when the rest is so good. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone in the area looking for a welcoming pub experience, but I'd say it's best to go in with an open mind and maybe stick to the crowd-pleasers for a top-notch time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is seriously spot-on – think mouthwatering pizzas and tasty options like chicken skewers that leave you wanting more, all at a fair price.
  • The staff are an absolute delight, always going the extra mile with friendly service and lovely surprises, like free gelatos for special occasions.
  • It's got such a welcoming vibe, with a tranquil beer garden and beautiful spots like the blossom room that make it perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
  • Plenty of parking and a cosy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, especially with those rustic log fires and cherry blossom touches.
Cons
  • Every now and then, some dishes like garlic bread might not hit the mark, with issues like being undercooked or having a gritty texture from too much semolina.
  • There could be the odd inconsistency in food prep, so it's worth keeping expectations in check for a flawless experience every time.

Beyond expectations in price, value, quality and taste. The Stone baked pizza was some of the best we've had and very fairly priced. The staff are very helpful and friendly, ample car parking and a tranquil beer garden. When we're back in the area we'll definitely make a return or find another one in the chain! Only negative was the toilets looked like they had been ransacked and could of used a clean, but the rest of the pub was very clean and well maintained.

Joiners Arms made my birthday unforgettable! The staff went above and beyond—service was exceptional, and the food was absolutely divine. One of my friends had the vegetarian options and loved them, while the rest of us enjoyed the delicious chicken skewers and pizza. Every dish was a feast for the eyes and the taste buds! The desserts were fantastic, and the cocktails? Perfect. They even served the Prosecco ice-cold with fresh strawberries—such a nice touch. The whole team exceeded our expectations, making the celebration truly special. We’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend Joiners Arms enough!

Me and some friends went to celebrate our final day at uni, we dined in the blossom room which is absolutely beautiful. Food was lovely, and our server surprised us with free gelatos presented with the words congratulations which was a lovely touch. I cant wait to visit again.

Opted for a pizza and garlic bread to share. The garlic bread could have done with being cooked a little longer and both had way too much semolina/cornmeal or whatever they'd used to help it not stick to the paddle which gave it a gritty texture. Wasn't bad overall and the food is usually really good so putting it down to an inexperienced pizza maker!

We visited here with our daughter who has visted here previously and I couldn't fault anything. The service was great, especially by Brad', and there was a lovely atmosphere and very attractive decorations. All the staff seemed pleasant and helpful; which isn't always the case in this type of restaurant. The food was superb and great value for money and our fish and chips was beautifully presented, as were all the meals. It's just a shame that we live so far away in East Devon as we'd be regular visitors otherwise. Well done.
