About This Pub

Ah, The Joiners Arms – it's one of those hidden gems in Middleton that just warms your heart the second you walk through the door. From the reviews, it sounds like a proper old-school British pub full of character, where the staff and regulars go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're there for a quick drink or a longer catch-up. I love how they've got a solid range of drinks at prices that won't sting your wallet, and it's spot on if you're with your dog; they'll be treated like a VIP! The beer garden's a nice touch for when the weather plays ball, and the whole place is kept clean and tidy, giving it that authentic, nostalgic feel. On the downside, it's a bit of a shame they skip on the cask ales – that could be a draw for some folks who prefer that traditional taste. All in all, it's a cracking spot for a relaxed evening with mates, especially if you're after good value and a friendly chat, but maybe not the first choice for ale purists. I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The pub has a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff and locals that make you feel right at home from the moment you step in.
  • Drinks are affordably priced with a good selection, perfect for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
  • It's incredibly dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your four-legged mate – they'll get plenty of fuss!
  • The place is clean and tidy, with a nostalgic charm that harks back to traditional British pubs, and there's a lovely beer garden for sunnier days.
Cons
  • It doesn't offer any real or cask ales, which might disappoint those who fancy a more traditional pint.
  • Opening hours can vary a bit, so it's worth checking ahead if you're planning a visit, especially on Sundays.

Lovely pub based around two old houses (c1900). Clean, tidy and welcoming inside. Staff and locals friendly. Beer garden. Only four stars as no real/ cask ale. Would tempt a lot of people away from the JW Lee's monopoly if they had a cask ale.
