About This Pub

Ah, The Horse & Tiger – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles from the moment you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this welcoming feel where the staff make you feel like an old mate, and the real ales are top-notch, paired with prices that won't leave your wallet weeping. I love how they've packed in the entertainment too; whether it's sinking a few pints while watching the footy, having a go on the pool table, or joining in on a Sunday quiz for a chance to win a gallon of beer, there's always something to keep things lively. On the flip side, the hours can be a bit confusing based on what's out there, and without a website, it's not straightforward to plan ahead. Plus, if you're in the mood for a buzzing city pub, this one's in a quieter village spot, so it might not hit the mark for everyone. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening – I'd say give it a try if you're nearby, as the high ratings from folks like Glyn and Ryan show it's doing something right!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The friendly welcome makes you feel right at home, just like popping into your local for a chat.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of real ales and beers at really affordable prices – pints starting from just £2, which is a bargain these days.
  • Loads of entertainment on offer, from a pool table and jukebox to live music, sports on the telly, and even quiz nights that are free to enter and end with a prize of a gallon of beer for the winners.
  • It's got that true local pub vibe in a quiet Yorkshire village, perfect for unwinding with a great atmosphere and sometimes a cheeky DJ spinning tunes.
Cons
  • The operating hours seem a bit inconsistent from what's listed, which might leave you scratching your head about when to pop in.
  • No website means it's not the easiest to check out menus or events online, so you might have to just turn up and see what's on.
  • Being in a quiet village, it might feel a tad sleepy if you're after a more lively, bustling spot with heaps of people around.

Great Local with the prices and staff in a quiet Yorkshire village. Offers a broad range of Cask Ales, Lagers and Beer along with a substantial Gin selection. Quiz nights on a Sunday are great fun with a gallon of beer to the winner and it’s free to enter! All live sports are shown on multiple TVs. Quality Local!
