About This Pub

Ah, The Hop Pole – it's one of those pubs that you pop into for a quick one and end up staying longer than planned, thanks to the fantastic music that really livens up the weekends. I've heard from a few mates that the atmosphere is just right for unwinding after a long day, with tasty beers flowing and the staff being genuinely welcoming, which makes it feel like a proper local haunt. On the flip side, it's a shame about the times when they seem to favour the regulars at the bar, leaving others twiddling their thumbs, and the TVs could use an upgrade for better viewing if you're into watching the footie. Plus, the toilets aren't always as spotless as you'd hope, and the surrounding area might not be everyone's cup of tea. All things considered, it's a solid choice for a casual night out – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a good time.

The music is absolutely brilliant, especially on weekends – it's got that lively vibe that really gets the crowd going.

The atmosphere is spot on; it's a welcoming place for a quick pint after work or just to unwind with friends.

Cons
-

Service can be a bit uneven, like when they prioritise regulars over others waiting at the bar, which might leave you feeling a tad overlooked.

-

The TVs aren't up to scratch with their picture quality, so if you're hoping to catch a match, it might not be the best spot.

-

The toilets could do with a bit more attention to keep them tidy, as they've been described as not the cleanest.

It's in a fairly straightforward part of town, and while the pub itself is fine, some folks find the area a bit lacking in charm overall.

                            Great place great music.
But why do you serve regulars before others stood waiting patiently at the bar this happened twice to me on Friday at about 7:30 which pi55ed me off big time
Only chipped in for a quick one after work as I'm waiting for a lift.Great atmosphere and tasty beer. Definitely my new Friday stop after work
Had a nice drink here. They had quite a few Televisions on but not the best picture. It was a nice atmosphere and staff were friendly. Toilets could of been cleaner but not the worst I have seen in pub.
I came in here just now and asked for a pint in exchange for cash and got one. Woo hoo! Cheerful barman.
Recommended if you need a pint in exchange for cash to cope with arriving in what's a pretty bleak town.
I mean, what the hell has it got going for it? Easy access to motorways to get the hell out of it is all I can think of.
