About This Pub

Ah, The High Acres in Kingswinford – it's one of those pubs that really feels like a local gem, you know? From what I've gathered, it's got this warm, family-oriented vibe that's perfect for nipping in for a catch-up with mates or a family do. The food stands out as a real highlight; they've got traditional pub fare that's tasty and comes with some cracking deals, like two mains for a steal, which makes it brilliant value. Pair that with a solid range of drinks and a beer garden that's dog-friendly – ideal for a sunny afternoon. The staff are mostly fabulous, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. But, to keep it real, it's not all roses; there've been a couple of grumbles about food not being quite right, like missing bits or even some dodgy incidents that left a bad taste. And sometimes it can feel a tad quiet, so if you're after a lively night, you might want to check the timing. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit for a laid-back pint or meal – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time, as most folks seem to!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is spot on – think hearty pub classics with great deals like two mains for a bargain, making it wallet-friendly for a midweek meal.
  • Staff are genuinely lovely and welcoming, always ready with a smile and top-notch service that makes you feel right at home.
  • It's a family-friendly spot with a cracking beer garden that's dog-friendly too, plus free WiFi and loads of sports on the telly for a relaxed vibe.
  • Wide selection of drinks, from beers and ciders to cocktails, with some low or no-alcohol options, so there's something for everyone.
Cons
  • There have been a few slip-ups with food orders, like missing items or quality issues in some cases, which can put a dampener on the experience.
  • The atmosphere can be a bit quiet at certain times, so it might not always feel buzzing, depending on when you pop in.
  • Service isn't always perfect – one or two reports of unhelpful staff, which is a shame when the rest are so friendly.

Hired a room for a birthday party, it was clean and very reasonably priced. All staff were lovely and honestly no complaints at all. Will certainly be returning! Thank you!

I went for a meal with my dad and step mom. We were kindly greeted and the service was brilliant. The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was a bit dead but I think that was just the time of day we went in but all in all it was a brilliant day and brilliant food. 😂

Ordered food parts of the food was missing but wasn’t told when we order only found out when it came to the table we then found dead bugs in the chips when we told the staff she was very rude and unhelpful just said the chips are in a different pot so we can just change them and not the hole meal. Also mold all over the pub as you can see on the photos

What a transformation, from a cliquey and generally cold place to a lovely warm atmosphere and while not good for business, quiet too! We came on a Thursday to take advantage of the 2 for £15 mains, a good selection. I had gammon and my partner had scampi, the portion sizes were perfect not too small and neither too big. The food was great, gammon nicely grilled, with attention paid to charring the fat cap to make it much more pleasant to eat! The scampi was of great quality and wonderfully crispy. The chips were fine, not outstanding but not bad by any means, perfectly edible and a good filler upper. My only genuine criticism of the food was the peas were firm and dry, but with a small volume of food shifting on the night you can’t be too upset about them keeping peas warm, but this is the reason for four stars on food. For dessert I had the Jaffa doughnut sundae and my partner had the fun fair ice cream dessert, both were lovely if a small amount overpriced. The highlight of our visit was the lovely James who served us, was happy to answer my questions and seemed genuinely happy to be there and be serving people. Really nice lad with top notch customer service. I would recommend all people ‘on the hill’ come and visit here, it’s so nice to finally have a place to eat here in upper Kingswinford without having to go into town.
