About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Hartley Arms – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot in all the right ways. Tucked away in Donnington, it's got this snug, modern feel that's far from stuffy, making it ideal for popping in with mates for a bite or a catch-up. The food is where it really shines; they're all about using what's in season and sourcing locally, so you're getting dishes that taste fresh and thoughtful, like their standout Sunday roasts with perfectly cooked meats and veg. The staff are an absolute delight, always on hand with a smile and quick service that makes you feel looked after without being over the top. And don't overlook their drink selection – those local brews add a nice, authentic touch to the experience. On the flip side, it's worth noting that things can get a bit pricey, so if you're watching the pennies, it might not be your everyday haunt. Plus, with closures on Mondays and Tuesdays, you'll need to check the timings to avoid disappointment. All in all, it's a solid choice for a memorable pub outing, especially if you're in the mood for quality over quantity – I'd say give it a go if you're nearby, you won't regret it!

  • Good value overall, with generous portions and well-cooked dishes that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank too much.
Cons

Excellent Sunday lunch at the Hartley Arms. Extremely nice and unpretentious interior. Staff led by Ali were kind and attentive. Sunday lunch was a treat. Plenty of well cooked vegetables and meat from a joint (not a frozen food company!). Good value for money and really good Sunday lunch. We recommend and we will be returning. Thank you Hartley Arms.

A nice little hidden pub in Donnington. Food was a bit pricey, but the flavours and portion sizes did not disappoint.!

A fabulous pub. Fantastic service and the Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious. Splendid starters and then incredible roast beef with a great selection of vegetables. We were far too full to have a pudding, so we'll have to save that for next time! Very highly recommended.

Allison and Alan have the best pub in the area. We often come around here for family pub meals, and this is our first time to come to the Hartley Arms. We had lunch on a Saturday and it was busy but great atmosphere. The food was amazing. Every dish we ordered was so tasty. We ate Scampi, chicken and rabbit roulade and seasonal vegetable soup as starters. With our mains being Steak, pan fried fish of the day and fish and chips. I wish this was my local pub in London

Was in the area and called in for lunch. Friendly staff, beautiful quaint exterior. Interior fittings and decor have a high quality feel to them. The food did not disappoint either. I had the fish special which was trout. Perfectly cooked with crispy skin, everything expertly seasoned. High end restaurant quality, many thanks.
