About This Pub
Ah, The Harrow in Hornchurch is one of those reliable local spots that feels like a proper British pub, where you can pop in for a bite and a chat without any fuss. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food's a real highlight – think tasty pub classics with options for everyone, including brilliant vegan choices and a family-friendly menu that keeps the little ones happy. The outdoor areas with those heated huts are just brilliant for a relaxed evening, and the staff often go the extra mile to make your visit memorable. On the downside, it does seem like things can get a bit chaotic during busier times, with some folks mentioning long waits for food that doesn't always match the hype, and portions that might leave you wanting more for your money. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a laid-back spot near Romford or Upminster, but I'd say it's best to keep expectations in check and maybe avoid peak hours for the smoothest experience.
Pros and Cons

-
It's super easy to get to, with plenty of free parking and good transport links, making it a hassle-free spot for a get-together.
Cons
-
Service can drag on a bit when it's busy, like waiting over an hour for basic dishes, which puts a damper on things.
-
Some of the food might not hit the mark, with complaints about small portions or dishes that don't quite live up to expectations, especially for the price.
-
There are times when the team seems a tad inattentive, which can leave you feeling a bit overlooked if you're chasing up your order.

Came here with my family for a fathers day meal, was greeted at the door by the amazing Rebecca! Quick and friendly service from Bethany and Elista, and great food! The vegan wellington on the sunday menu is incredible. We will definitely becoming back!
What a great family public house to meet. Amazing food with a wide choice of drinks (hot ☕ and cold ❄️ 🍻). And a great outdoor seating area with the most amazing huts. 8 family size huts, all with heater 🔥 and plugs. This really does tick all the boxes. Enjoy guys. And great bus links, never drink n drive

This is a late post. We went for a drink and dinner during Christmas time in Dec 2024. We ordered our food which basic stuff and then to the food arrived after nearly one hour.
We kept asking the staff and they did not pay much attention.
Coming to food itself, it was basic, nothing to be super happy.
Overall a nice place for a drink.
We were party of two families. And while atmosphere were great, food was awful. Two dishes were extra awful. While mac&cheese ribs was probably most expensive meal, portion wasn't the size of main meal and mac&cheese was pasta floating in bbq sauce (image). Chef probably doesn't know how it should look to start with. But the highlight was fish and chips. That green firm playdough looking thing held in hand (picture) is mushy peas. They were solid- like stone and obviously not edible. Even waiter should seen what he's bringing. In the end we just ate peas from kids chicken nuggets plate. We didn't want to ruin our evening or get spit in our dessert, so we just paid and didn't mention. But we for sure never gonna eat here.
Amazing!!! We booked an area at the Harrow to surprise our friends with leaving drinks before moving to Australia and we had the best night. We had a large number of guests attending and the area worked perfectly for us. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful in accommodating us both leading up to and during the day, even assisting us with setting up the area beforehand. The food was lovely and the bar service was great. Everyone had an amazing time and I would definitely use the Harrow again for another event.
