About This Pub
Ah, The Drill in Romford, what a lovely spot it is for a casual get-together or a proper night out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, like you're chatting with old mates behind the bar, and the food is just brilliant – think generous portions of traditional pub grub and those Sunday roasts that hit the spot every time. It's got that family-friendly vibe, with options for kids and even a dog-friendly beer garden that's ideal for a relaxed afternoon, rain or shine. The drinks selection is spot on too, with everything from smooth Guinness to a variety of beers and cocktails, and they've got fun events like live music or quizzes to keep things lively. On the flip side, though, it's a shame about the paid WiFi; in a world where we're all glued to our phones, it feels a tad stingy not to have it free. Plus, the opening times can be a bit all over the place, so you might end up planning around that, and it does get packed in the evenings, which could put a damper on things if you're after a quiet one. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub goers looking for good value and a warm welcome, but just keep those little downsides in mind for a balanced visit.
Pros and Cons

-
The food is spot on, with hearty pub classics and delicious roasts that leave you properly satisfied, plus it's family-friendly so it's great for all ages.
-

-
The atmosphere is lively with events like live music, quizzes, and even a DJ, making it a top spot for catching up with mates or celebrating.
-
It's clean, tidy, and affordable, with plenty of space including a function room for bigger gatherings.
Cons
-
The WiFi is only available if you pay for it, which feels a bit outdated in this day and age when you're out and about.
-
The opening hours can seem a bit confusing with varying times listed, so it's worth double-checking before you head over to avoid any disappointment.
-
Being in a town centre location, it might get quite busy on weekends, which could mean a wait for a table or a drink if you're not there early.

Fantastic place! I was blown away by the decor inside AND the garden. The staff are all super friendly too. I did not want to go home.
Roast cooked to perfection! Plate was absolutely filled to the brim with all the trimmings and a beautiful portion of beef definitely my new Sunday spot for a lovely roast served by lovely staff such a good atmosphere all round… the pub dogs are a bonus and my children absolutely love them!
The Drill opened its doors again today and I just popped over for a couple of drinks and a meal, both of which were excellent! I can't wait to sample the whole menu in the future. The new and old staff were super friendly and the manager Wayne was very welcoming and was clearly running a well oiled machine. Their social distancing measures seemed to be working well and it felt like a safe environment to relax in. Being a pub garden fan though I was most impressed with their refurbished garden - outstanding!
See you again soon!
