About This Pub
Oh, The Harewood Arms in Follifoot is such a gem, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the beer stands out as a real highlight – that Sam Smith's bitter is served to perfection, just like in the good old days. The staff are genuinely friendly, always ready with a smile and a story, and the outside garden is an absolute treat for soaking up the countryside vibes. I love how they've kept things traditional with those cosy fires and a no-phones rule that gets people talking and building connections, making it feel truly magical, especially around Christmas. But, to be fair, it's not without its quirks; there's that firm policy on children, which left one person feeling a bit put out when they were asked to leave, and it can make the service seem a tad abrupt if you're not prepared. All in all, it's a fantastic spot for a relaxed pint and some genuine chit-chat, as long as you go in with the right expectations – definitely one to try if you're after that authentic pub experience, but maybe plan accordingly if you've got the little ones in tow.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer is absolutely spot-on, especially that hand-pulled Sam Smith's bitter – it's as good as it gets for a proper pint.
-
The staff are lovely and welcoming, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home in this charming village spot.
-
The outside space and garden are just delightful, perfect for enjoying a drink on a sunny day or a relaxed evening.
-
It's got that classic, traditional pub vibe with roaring fires and a no-phones policy that encourages proper conversations and a sense of community.
Cons
-
They have a strict no-children policy, which meant one visitor was turned away and found it quite abrupt – it's worth knowing before you go.
-
The service can sometimes come across as a bit firm if you're not familiar with the rules, so it might not suit everyone looking for a relaxed visit.

Can't rate the food as I didn't partake.
The service was friendly and the Old Brewery Bitter was as good as I've had anywhere and the outside space is lovely.
Lovely old village pub. Great hand pulled sam smith's bitter. Licensees are lovely people. Lovely outside area and grassed garden.
This is a truly magnificent pub. Sam’s beers kept to perfection, no phones and just good happy convivial chat with anyone and everyone who passes through. Landlady and landlord keep three fires going, and make the pub even more spectacular at Christmas time. Utterly magical pub in every way!
Visited this pub Monday 16 December 2024 for lunch. Invited by family friend.
What a place. You really did step back in time.
Great open fire And No phones, media devices.
Just like the old days of conversations and friendship.
Landlord friendly and willing to chat about the pub’s history.
Definitely a place to go back to.

Refused service:
Just been refused service at the Harewood Arms due to having a young child, I was promptly asked to leave by the Manager which came across rude and abrupt.
Since doing my research, I now understand this is regulation for Sam Smith pubs which is fine, but I also believe that DOGS are also BANNED from being inside the pub as well.
There was a big Rottweiler looking quite intimidating barking at all the customers which was allowed within the premises, so it seems one rule for the locals and another rule for others.
Thankfully I won’t be returning.
