About This Pub
Ah, the Hare and Hounds—it's one of those places that just sticks in your mind after a visit. Picture this: you're sat up on Lansdown Hill, gazing out over the Charlcombe Valley, with a cracking roast dinner in front of you and a pint of something local to wash it down. The food's spot-on, with reimagined pub classics that cater to all tastes, including vegan and vegetarian options, and it's all served by staff who are genuinely warm and attentive—they really do make you feel like a regular from the get-go. It's family-friendly too, with an open fireplace for cosy evenings and plenty of space outdoors for when the weather's on your side. On the flip side, that hilltop location means it's not the easiest spot to reach if you're not up for a stroll, and it does tend to buzz with folk, so you might find yourself queuing or needing to reserve a table in advance. All in all, though, it's a proper gem for anyone wanting a taste of the countryside without straying too far from Bath—I'd say it's well worth seeking out for a memorable pint and a chat with mates.

The roast was excellent, the best I’ve had in years. Service was very friendly and efficient. The deck out the back had a lovely view.
Went on a recommendation from a friend and it lived up to its high praise it got.
I would say probably the best pub lunch I’ve had in the past 10 years.
I got the beef roast and it was good and my wife got the chicken roast. And the stuffing!! Unbelievable!! Like a little flat sausage. Compliments to the chef for this little burst of flavor.
Staff were great and friendly. Great outside space.
Well worth the walk up from town.
Nice Pub on top of the hill overlooking Bath and the countryside. We've been here two times and both experiences were outstanding. Drinks and food is extraordinary.

After an invigorating walk uphill, you reach this absolutely lovely establishment with its breathtaking views!
The staff is friendly and accommodating, the food delicious and the cider sublime.
We didn’t bring any today, but it’s also very dog friendly. Would definitely recommend!
We had a lovely experience. We had a city break from London. I do work in the industry and all I just want to say is that the experience overall was outstanding. From food presentation to the customer service. I would love to mention some of the staff names which made our experience so lively on our short break: Ben(behind the bar), Brad the supervisor. Thank you so much for makings our break so lovely. And btw the live music was amazing.
