About This Pub

Ah, The Grove – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its timeless charm and that lovely Victorian interior, making it a brilliant spot for a catch-up with mates or a relaxed Sunday lunch. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really shines, especially their roasts and classic dishes that use fresh, seasonal ingredients – I can imagine tucking into a hearty plate after a walk around the area. The staff are an absolute gem, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which adds to the homely feel. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; there've been a couple of mentions about food not being served at the right temperature or the odd chewy bit, and with the recent changes, the team might still be finding their feet, leading to the occasional wait or mix-up. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers in London – worth a visit for the good times, just keep expectations realistic for a smoother experience.

  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, really adding to that welcoming vibe and making every visit feel personal.
  • The food is a real highlight – think delicious Sunday roasts, tasty pub classics, and fresh seasonal dishes that hit the spot every time.
  • They've got a great selection of beers and well-made drinks, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
  • After a recent refurb, the place looks fresh and inviting, blending traditional charm with a modern touch.
Cons
  • There have been a few slip-ups with food quality, like dishes not being piping hot or some parts being a bit chewy, which can be disappointing.
  • The new staff are still getting the hang of things, so service might not be completely smooth yet, though they're eager to help.

Tucked away in a charming corner of London, The Grove Pub is the kind of place you hope to stumble upon—and once you do, it quickly becomes a favorite. Stepping inside feels like a step back in time, thanks to its beautifully preserved Victorian atmosphere. The rich hardwood interiors, cozy nooks, and period details create a warm, inviting space that’s perfect for everything from a casual pint to a hearty Sunday roast. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed, neighborhood vibe from the moment you walk in. They’re attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely seem to enjoy chatting with guests—whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth. The food and drinks are top-notch, offering pub classics and even vegetarian options. Whether you’re after a perfectly pulled pint, a seasonal cocktail, or a comforting plate of fish and chips, The Grove delivers. One of the best surprises? It’s dog-friendly—and not just in name. They go above and beyond for their four-legged visitors, with dog treats at the ready. If you’re looking for a pub with charm, character, great service, and even better company (both human and canine), The Grove is an absolute must-visit.

Great pub in Balham! The Grove has a really nice vibe – cozy, welcoming, and the staff are friendly. Good selection of beers, well-made drinks, and the food is surprisingly good. The Sunday roast is a highlight. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

Absolutely love this pub! Super cosy interior following the refurb last year. The new food menu is super tasty, full of seasonal ingredients and has a great balance of pub classics and other dishes. The staff make the pub! They're so friendly and helpful. It has a lovely family feel to it.

This pub serves great roast pork and chicken. Super delicious and plenty of it. The kids had burgers and all were polished off. Service was attentive and very friendly. After last years renovations the pub looks fresh. I would definitely return.

The refurb is AMAZING, such a nice pub but new staff are on a learning curve to get to grips with the new set up. Food was not quite as good as our previous visit at lunchtime, warm not hot & part of the steak a little chewy. Staff are super friendly and make a nice atmosphere but no one checked on us after the meals were served to see how they were & an occasion with no one behind the bar with multiple people waiting to be served. I’m sure in a couple of weeks staff will be up to speed & the service will reach the same level as the refurb.
