About This Pub

Ah, The Grove – it's one of those pubs in Ealing that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away near Ealing Green and not far from the Broadway. I've got to say, it's got that warm, inviting vibe with a beautiful outdoor area that's perfect for soaking up the sun with a cold one in hand, especially during those rare blue-sky days in London. The food's generally a highlight; think fresh, seasonal plates that hit the spot, from their new Prix Fixe deals to classics like pies and curries with a modern twist – and at moderate prices, it's easy to pop in without worrying about the wallet. The team behind the bar and in the restaurant are top-notch, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the homely feel. It's ace for families or if you're bringing the dog along, and with Sky and TNT Sports on, it's a go-to for watching the big matches. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; there was that one review where the fish and chips were an absolute disaster – grey fish and burnt chips, yikes! That said, with an overall rating of 4.4 from heaps of folks, it seems like these are the exceptions rather than the rule. If you're in the area, I'd definitely give it a go for a laid-back lunch or evening out, just maybe steer clear of the fish and chips if you're feeling cautious. All in all, it's a solid spot that does most things right, and that's what makes it worth recommending to mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's got this lovely wraparound garden with covered seating, perfect for a relaxed alfresco pint or meal when the weather's playing nice.
  • The staff are always so friendly and attentive; they make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for a full meal.
  • Food-wise, they've got some cracking options like fresh seasonal dishes, a banging Sunday roast, and fun specials such as Wing Wednesday – all at reasonable prices that won't break the bank.
  • It's family and dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with the little ones or your furry mate, and they've got live sports on the telly, so it's great for catching the footy.
  • The new Prix Fixe menu is a real winner for a budget-friendly treat, offering two courses for £18 or three for £22 in the early evenings.
Cons
  • There have been a few slip-ups with the food; one person had a dreadful experience with overcooked chips and grey fish in their fish and chips, which sounds like a proper letdown.
  • While most visits are smooth, that one negative review makes you wonder if consistency in the kitchen could be better on busier days.

Nice little pub with a decnt atmosphere and little pub garden. Great reception and service by friendly and attentive staff! Compliments to the kitchen staff on the Sunday Roast! No long waiting times.

I truly do not know how anyone could eat at this most horrendous pub restaurant. I ordered the most simplest food dish of fish and chips. I was extremely disappointed that the staff could present the fish as haddock! The chips were overcooked and the fish was grey, I was palmed off with “any cheap white fish of no description”. Big mistake for them, I did not pay for their cheap disgusting food and requested that the fish and chips be deleted from the bill. Everyone in our group had to send their fish and chips back and forth sorting out the chips! I categorically would not recommend this place at all. I think the staff made a mistake thinking that we were brown faced tourists with little English! Oops we were locals! And I like to talk…

The Grove is one of few places in Ealing that has an outside garden which is great. It also has a swing. The atmosphere in this pub is always great. Prices are reasonable and food has always been tasty. Tried many things such as fish and chips, wings, pies and deserts. Would highly recommend it to locals or visitors. It’s also super close to the park.
