About This Pub
Ah, The Griffin – it's one of those classic pubs in Rugby that you might stumble upon for a relaxed afternoon or evening out. From what I've gathered, the food really shines through, especially their mains and Sunday roasts, which folks rave about for being hot, flavoursome, and just the ticket for a proper meal. The staff can be absolute gems too, dishing out that warm, welcoming service that makes you want to linger over a pint. But let's be straight, it's not perfect – there are moments when things drag, like waiting ages for a dessert that's more disappointing than delightful, or walking in and sensing a bit of an unwelcoming atmosphere that puts a dampener on things. All in all, it's a moderately priced spot that's worth a visit if you're in the area, but I'd suggest going with an open mind and perhaps sticking to the stronger points like the beer and the roasts to keep things enjoyable.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is a real highlight, with delicious mains and Sunday roasts that are piping hot, well-cooked, and satisfyingly hearty.
-
Service can be spot-on when it's good, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, especially for a quick beer or a special occasion.
-
It's a welcoming spot for a casual pint, and the new menu seems to have won over some regulars with its fresh vibe.
Cons
-
Service isn't always consistent, with long waits for certain dishes like desserts that might not justify the time or cost.
-
The initial welcome can feel a bit off-putting at times, leaving you wondering if it's the right place for a meal.
-
There's occasional confusion about what's on offer, which might spoil the experience if you're specifically after food.

The mains were great. But the sweet was not so good and took well over 40 mins, and honestly not worth the wait or the money.
Walked into this place and the looks people gave us was not pleasant. No one greeted us. No menus on the table, couldn't tell if the place did food or not, which was what we were after. While we sat down I promptly found somewhere else to go and was a much better greeting.
Picked up a lamb and beef Sunday roast. Great prove, piping hot and great service, beer while I waited was a treat too 😁

Sunday lunch on our wedding anniversary. Nice lady serving at the bar made us feel welcome.
The food was hot, well cooked, tasty and a good plateful. The lady that served it was so lovely and had a cool accent.
