About This Pub
Ah, The Greyhound Inn – it's one of those timeless spots that's been serving up the goods since 1830, right in the heart of Lower Penn. You can tell it's family-owned because it has that warm, personal vibe that makes you feel right at ease from the moment you walk in. They've got a cracking selection of menus, from the early bird deals with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to those hearty Sunday roasts that are just the ticket for a proper weekend treat. The prices are fair too, giving you solid bang for your buck without feeling like you're skimping. But, and I say this as a mate who's heard the chatter, it's not all smooth sailing – some folks have mentioned disappointing moments, like meals that weren't quite cooked through or a narrower choice than expected, which is a pity for a place with so much potential. Still, with its friendly atmosphere and those high points in the food, I'd say it's worth popping by if you're in the area, just maybe keep an eye on recent feedback to catch it on a good day.

Sunday lunch, we've been here a few times and was really looking forward to our Sunday roast. Unfortunately to our disappointment, my two slices of pork loin were raw in parts. They took it back with apologies. When they brought it back, you could see where the chef had slid it of the plate, the gravy was over the one side, it looked very messy. We ended up with a side plate which was full of the fat from the pork, very little meat on it. Luckily my husband had the chicken and shared it with me. Overall the complete meal was not to its usual standard.
Meal tonight was very much below par compared to what we’ve had on past visits. Starter was ok, a large bowl of nachos to share with cheese, guacamole, salsa, sour cream and jalapeños. Was not fresh cheese but cheese sauce which although it was smothered in, was quite tasty .
Mains were very very disappointing unfortunately. Chicken and chips came without advertised coleslaw as ‘they’d run out’. No mention of this when we ordered or when food was delivered until I questioned where it was. (I would have chosen something else) and chicken was so dry and overcooked I couldn’t cut some of it. Basically chicken and chips £18.95! Chicken, bacon and leek pie had hardly any filling (chicken or bacon) and was clearly a frozen one not homemade. This came with mash, smothered in gravy and lacking the advertised peas. When questioned about this too we’re told it didn’t come with peas (it was advised on the menu that it did) price for this was £14.95
No check back and no allergy question before ordering.
Too expensive for poor quality food and staff either under educated or lack of communication from the chef.
Wont be returning in a hurry. Shame, it used to be so good.

We had booked a table for 7 at 6pm yesterday, when we arrived we were seated at a table on the left hand side of the restaurant, when we looked at the menu's we were quite shocked to find they had changed and were very limited, only 1 steak choice and unless you liked pasta or fish then then choice wasn't great. When we ordered our drinks it became apparent that our table had a woble it wasn't a small woble the baby's drink that was on it completely tip over so we asked one of the young waitresses if we could move and was told she had to ask, when our drinks came we were told we couldn't move due to the restaurant being fully booked, at the time there was only 1 other table of 3 guests, we were left little choice but to leave, on previous visits we had seen other people complaining about this table and were moved so it is obviously an on going issue, absolutely disgusted with the lack of help and that who ever was in charge did not try to come and sort the situation but left it to the young girls. So annoyed that we have used this place lots previously as we never had any problems previously but we will not be returning.
Lovely quaint pub with really nice staff and an amazing food quality Sunday roast with many options. Would recommend booking on a Sunday. Dessert was also nice and very reasonably priced.
The pub was lovely and clean and we were greeted warmly and seated by the window that had lovely views. We chose from the early bird menu; three courses for £18.50 which we thought was reasonable. The starter and main meals were well cooked & presented and the portion sizes met expectations. However, our only gripe was the puddings. The ice-cream was below par in flavour and quality & the crumble was not cooked as one dish. The crumble was added on top of the fruit after cooking. It was also incredibly sweet. So perfect for those who like this type of pudding, but I prefer a crumble that is a bit more tarte and the crumble is cooked on top of the fruit in the oven. The service was friendly and perfectly timed.
