About This Pub

Ah, The Green Bear – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away on the high street in Gorleston-on-Sea. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks really appreciate the warm, nostalgic vibe; it's got that classic old-fashioned charm that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk in. The staff and the crowd are spot on, always up for a chat and making sure everyone's having a good time, which is just what you want after a long day. Prices are sensible too, so you won't break the bank on a few pints, and if you're up for some fun, there's a decent pool table or even live music to liven things up – I can imagine it's a brilliant spot for catching a covers band or organising a small get-together. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; if you're a real ale aficionado, you might find the lack of options on draught a bit of a letdown, and the drink selection isn't the most extensive, meaning you could miss out on a few favourites, though they've usually got something else to suggest. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, especially if you're after good company and a no-fuss experience – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as long as you're not too picky about your brews.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely charming – it's got that lovely old-fashioned pub feel that makes you want to settle in for the evening.
  • Friendly staff and locals create a welcoming vibe, perfect for a casual catch-up with mates.
  • Drinks are inexpensive and offer great value, with plenty of choices even if some aren't on draught.
  • It's a fun spot for entertainment, like live bands or a game of pool on their English table.
  • They can host functions, making it versatile for groups or events.
Cons
  • No real ales on draught, which might leave ale lovers a bit disappointed.
  • Some drinks you might expect aren't always available, though they do have alternatives.
  • The beer selection can feel a tad limited in places, relying on bottled options rather than a full range.

Had gone into Wetherspoons but got fed up waiting do went across the road to the Green Bear. Very pleased. A good atmosphere and the beer was great and cheap. Nice vibe, will go back.

Good old fashioned pub atmosphere. Former social club now a pub. No beers on pump but plenty of choice otherwise. Locals and staff give a friendly happy go lucky atmosphere. Good pool table too. Excellent.

Inexpensive drinks, friendly faces and an English pool table at 50p a game. What's not to like? Some drinks you'd expect to find aren't available, but they'll almost certainly have an alternative that will satisfy. Been a few times and I enjoy going every time. Functions can be held here too, with a sizeable room with s stage available!
