About This Pub

You know, if you're looking for a proper British pub that feels like a hidden gem, I'd say Dock Tavern fits the bill nicely. It's got this wonderful old-fashioned charm with live music and events that really get the place buzzing, and the staff are just lovely – always quick with a smile and a drink. The drinks selection is spot on too, with great real cider and ales at prices that won't break the bank, plus there's a beer garden for those sunny days when you fancy a bit of fresh air. On the flip side, their website's a bit of a shambles with errors popping up, so you might struggle to check opening times or menus online. It can also be quiet now and then, which is fine for a chilled chat but not ideal if you're after a lively crowd. All in all, from what folks are saying, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a fun evening, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The live music and events are absolutely brilliant, creating a lively and welcoming vibe that keeps things entertaining.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, always making you feel right at home with their prompt service.
  • A cracking selection of drinks, like real cider and reasonably priced ales, that hit the spot every time.
  • The beer garden and cosy, old-fashioned atmosphere make it a perfect spot for a relaxed catch-up or a fun night out.
  • It's kept spotlessly clean, which adds to that comfortable, homely feel you'd expect from a good local pub.
Cons
  • The website's a right mess with server errors, so it's not the easiest way to get the latest details or plan a visit.
  • It can be a bit quiet at times, which might not suit if you're after a buzzing crowd rather than a more laid-back setting.
  • There's not much buzz about the food options, and some say they're not even sure if it's on offer, which could be a letdown if you're peckish.

Can be quiet, very quaint and proper beachy feel. Great real cider choices. Bands play and can then get busy. My favourite pub. Can't comment on food, never tried, not even sure if they do.

Been here a few times now. A wonderful old fashioned pub with a garden. The best visit yet was today. The 14th Charity Festival. Great atmosphere, great live bands, great cider. Will be back for more.

This is a great little pub well worth finding tucked in between Gorleston high street and the River Yare, good choice of fairly priced ales enjoyed by convivial locals. As a Yarmouth lad I'm always happy to cross the river for a visit, the food looks tempting too.
