About This Pub
Oh, what a lovely spot The Great Northern Railway Tavern is – it's one of those places that just draws you in with its Grade II listed charm and that authentic pub feel. I have to say, the atmosphere is spot on; those original Victorian features really give it a warm, nostalgic touch that makes every visit feel special, and it's clear from the buzz around that it's a favourite for a good catch-up over drinks. The beer selection is brilliant too – they've got everything from solid classics to more adventurous craft brews, and it's always served with a smile from the helpful staff who know their stuff. Then there's the food; it's proper British pub grub done well, with fresh, seasonal twists that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. The outdoor area is another highlight, especially with those heaters and occasional events like DJ nights that liven things up nicely. But, fair's fair, it does get a bit crowded at times, particularly on busier evenings, so you might find yourself queuing for a table if you pop in without planning ahead. And while the hours are generally flexible, some days it closes earlier than I'd like, which could cut short a perfect night out. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a relaxed spot to enjoy good company, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go – you'll likely leave with a smile and a plan to return soon.

Had a fantastic experience in this pub few weeks ago 😁 it was an outdoor area launch and kebabs on the menu. They have heaters outside in case of the cold weather. The service is great and lost of choice of the beer. Few weeks ago it was a DJ outdoors, which was fantastic! Coming back again. Felt very warm ☺️
Lovely iconic, atmospheric pub. Great food, garden and interior
Great pub with some nice Victorian features and large courtyard outside space. Excellent pint of London Pride.
What a spectacular pub. Excellent local boozer with great locals and a community feel but also with a tap selection that is better than almost any I’ve encountered in London. The staff were knowledgeable, personal and generous with their time and attention. One server even warned us off a keg because she couldn’t guarantee that it would give a good enough representation of the beer’s quality at that time. A truly precious gem that is both intimate and has all the facilities that you could possibly want. Brilliant
Located on Hornsey high street, this pub is stunning, a real good looking pub that's aesthetically pleasing.
This is in fact my second visit. This time we decided to have a quick bite, it was the spicy chicken wings and triple cooked chips that were calling out to us. The chicken wings were accompanied with a blue cheese dip and the triple cooked chips were hot, crispy and fluffy.
We finished it off with the sticky toffee pudding served with salted caramel buffalo milk ice cream. Honestly one of the best I've tasted, not too sweet, paired with the ice cream it was to die for, trust me, trust me, I have tasted plenty. Although it was on the slightly pricier side at £8.50 per portion, it was decent. We loved it so much, we decided to order another portion, sadly they had run out of the salted caramel ice cream so we opted for vanilla. We realised the sponge was hard towards the end, perhaps it was warmed up in the microwave.
Staff were friendly and polite, would definitely visit again.
Great ambience inside especially with the candles all lit up.
Accessible toilets.
Beer garden and private function rooms available.
