About This Pub
Ah, North Eight – it's one of those neighbourhood spots that can really hit the spot on a good day. I have to say, the staff there are absolute gems; they're so welcoming and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates, which is just what you want from a pub. We've had some cracking evenings playing pool or darts in a relaxed setting, and those complimentary bowls of food? Pure bonus – they add a nice touch without breaking the bank. The Guinness is reliably great too, which is always a win for me. But, let's be honest, it's not all smooth sailing. Lately, there've been issues with rowdy groups turning up, leading to fights and even police getting involved, which has put a bit of a shadow over the place. Some folks have mentioned run-ins with staff who weren't as cheerful, and the overall look of the pub could do with a refresh – think cracked windows and a worn-out feel that doesn't quite live up to the friendly service. Still, if you time your visit right on a quieter evening, it's worth a go for that community spirit and inexpensive prices. All in all, it's got potential, but you'd want to go in with your eyes open to avoid any surprises.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a great vibe for a laid-back evening, with fun options like pool and darts to keep things entertaining.
-
They sometimes throw in complimentary bowls of food, which is a real treat and adds to the homely feel.
-
The Guinness is spot on – always poured just right, making it a solid choice for a classic pint.
Cons
-
Lately, it's been drawing in some unsavoury crowds, with fights and police interventions becoming a bit too common, which can spoil the atmosphere.
-
A few interactions with staff have been on the short side and a tad rude, leaving a bad taste after what should be a fun night.
-
The place isn't the most polished; things like broken windows and a dated look mean it could use some sprucing up to feel more inviting.
-
With recent reviews showing a dip in quality, it might not be as reliable for a peaceful visit as it once was.

Recent Reviews
Used to be quiet and cozy, but lately it consistently attracts some particular hostile crowds/thugs (since February 2025).
Fights and interventions by the police and the council occur frequently, including an abatement notice and an ongoing license review.
The pub even had broken/cracked windows for ages. Definitely not family friendly!
Good vibes, nice fun atmosphere for a chill time of playing pool and darts, very friendly and at home. Not the most beautiful, enjoy going on a chill time of the week
Visited last Saturday with friends and really disappointed of the interaction of the staff and the owner’s daughter.
The bar staff was quite short and rude to several people. Specifically, I was being bought a drink from a new friend of mine that I just met that night from our party. When asked for payment, I told the bartender (young female) that my new friend was paying …she spat back and said “you don’t know the name of person who is buying a drink ?”, slumped off pissed and got payment. Really unnecessary comment, attitude and tad unprofessional- on decency and overall manners.
I was not going to say anything as I understand it was late and they must of been exhausted and wanted to shut the pub- im compassionate on that but when I tried to tell the manager (owner’s daughter - who made sure I KNEW she was the owner’s daughter) if she can ask her bartender to adjust her attitude towards people calmly and made sure it wasn’t in front of her staff. I did not want to make a big deal but she answered quite shortly , blamed they are tired and trying to get everyone out and she will tell her and asked me to leave - which I obliged with no issues.
Again, you can try to tell them helpful feedback in calm manner but you’ll get a hostile response. Just disappointing for my first visit and happy it will be the last.
Had the pleasure of having a few drinks here with my son. The minute we went in we were very welcomed. There was a great vibe and the 2 bar maid's ....... Shannon and Lou- Lou were so welcoming and friendly. As were all the customer's. We were given complimentary bowls of food which were delicious. I will definitely be back for a longer visit next time.
Bit bright. But nice spot. Lovely staff. Darken the colours of the bar, age it in, add a bit more patina over the years and you’ve got yourself a gem. Guinness is great too.
