About This Pub

Ah, The Grapes in Hazel Grove – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local spot, you know? From what I've gathered, it's got this lovely, welcoming vibe that's ideal for a relaxed drink or getting stuck into the karaoke on Fridays and Saturdays; folks seem to love the enthusiastic crowd and the chance to belt out a tune. The staff come across as genuinely friendly and efficient, even when things get hectic, and they've got a solid selection of Robinsons ales and other drinks that are reasonably priced, which is always a win. Plus, with perks like the beer garden for soaking up the sun, a pool table upstairs, and being super accessible with free parking and options for families and dogs, it's easy to see why people keep coming back. On the flip side, though, there are some stories floating about the landlord not always being on his best behaviour – a couple of reviews mentioned him being outright rude or intoxicated, which is a real shame and could spoil the fun. Overall, it's got that heartwarming community spirit going for it, but I'd say it's worth keeping an eye out for any off nights to make sure you have a top-notch experience. If you're in Stockport and fancy a pint with a side of entertainment, give it a go, but maybe check in advance to avoid any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on, especially on karaoke nights – it's a brilliant spot for a laugh with friends, full of enthusiasm and good vibes.
  • Friendly staff who keep things running smoothly, even when it's busy, and they've got a decent range of beers that won't break the bank.
  • It's got all the classic pub perks like a beer garden for sunny days, a pool table for some fun games, and it's dog-friendly, family-friendly, and even wheelchair accessible, making it welcoming for everyone.
Cons
  • There have been a few reports of the landlord behaving out of order, like being disrespectful or even drunk, which could really put a damper on your night out.
  • The operating status seems a bit unclear, with mentions of it being 'close', so it might not always be reliable for a spontaneous visit.

Always seems to be busy on a Saturday as it's karaoke night, so we've started calling in. The atmosphere is great, and the singers are always met with enthusiasm from the audience. Decent choice of beers, not too expensive and the staff never leave you waiting too long, even when they're busy.

Absolutely Adore The Grapes ! 🍇 One of my favourite places to have a drink on the weekend . The staff and owner are the friendliest and the atmosphere is always immaculate. The decor is lovely plenty of space inside and outside. The beer garden has lots of space to sit down and places sheltered from the rain . There is always uplifting music that is impossible not to dance to . Makes the hangover the next day worth it . If going to the grapes is one of the stops for the night you are in for a great time ! Definitely the Heart and Soul to Hazel Grove ❤️

This pub has a friendly landlord, a really well laid out 19 30s styled pub This pub is a locals pub, and it has tv in it. The pub is clean and the toilets are good

Friendly bar staff however the landlord was completely out of order and drunk the entire night. Very disrespectful towards customers and will never return again. Reported to Robinsons. Thanks to all the friendly bar staff who informed me that the landlord was actually drunk too. Terrible place, avoid at all costs unless you want someone hassling you all night long.

Friday night karaoke for a friend's 40th. Reasonable range of Robinson's ales and standard pub lagers. The atmosphere was excellent. A friendly, warm and well behaved crowd. Comfortable and welcoming.
