About This Pub

Ah, The Bull's Head in Stockport – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are an absolute delight; they're chatty, helpful, and go out of their way to make sure you're sorted, whether it's recommending a wine or keeping an eye on the little ones. The food's a real winner too – imagine tucking into thick, juicy burgers or a fresh Sunday roast with generous portions, all at prices that won't leave you skint. And let's not forget the events; there's always something on, like karaoke battles, curry nights, or catching the footie, which makes it a lively spot for a night out with friends. On the flip side, though, it's not perfect – I've heard a few tales of food taking ages to arrive, which could put a dampener on things, especially if you're starving after a long day. Plus, while the meals are generally good, they might not be the most exciting you've ever had, more your classic pub fare. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in Hazel Grove; I'd say pop in for a pint and a bite, but maybe plan ahead to avoid any waits. It's got that warm, welcoming feel that makes you want to come back, warts and all.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and really make you feel welcome, always friendly and attentive like Lotti and Sophie who went the extra mile.
  • The food is spot on – think quality burgers with proper thick patties and fresh ingredients, plus great deals like 2 for 1 that make it brilliant value for a casual meal.
  • It's got a great vibe with loads of events on offer, from karaoke nights and quizzes to watching the big games on TNT Sport and Sky Sports.
  • Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a pint or a meal without breaking the bank, especially with those affordable drinks and specials.
  • The pub has a welcoming atmosphere and a nice layout, perfect for catching up with mates or enjoying a quiet Sunday lunch.
Cons
  • Wait times for food can be a bit of a letdown sometimes, like one instance where it took over an hour, even if the staff do apologise.
  • The food might not always blow you away – it's solid and tasty, but a couple of folks said it was just average, nothing to write home about.
  • Service isn't always proactive; you might have to chase things up yourself rather than getting updates without asking.
  • With it being a busy spot, it could get a tad hectic, so if you're after a super relaxed evening, it might not always hit the mark.

Just come in for a quick bite, had the 2 for 1 burger deal, absolutely amazing, really quality thick burgers and proper bacon not thin watery rubbish. Amazing value. Lotti was fab host , let us sample a wine we had were not familiar with before we ordered it, and looked after our grandson , not been here for a while and usually just have a drink, very impressed with food, service really nice pub will definitely be back. Thank you Lotti chef , four very happy customers.

We arrived around 6pm, food arrived promptly. Staff members were so polite. Food was pretty average. However, bonus points for free extra gravy. Lovely layout, too. Overall, I personally think it is good value for money. The staff make this place so much more nicer.

Food was quite tasty once it arrived but it took over an hour, hate to think what it is like on a busy day. Staff were apologetic but after we had inquired about the order, not proactively

Our first time visiting this pub. The bar staff and service staff were friendly and helpful. The good was nice and fresh and was exactly what it said on the menu. Portions were a decent size. The pub wasn't packed which was also nice. Would recommend if you're passing.
