About This Pub
Ah, The Goat Inn – it's such a lovely little gem in the heart of St Albans, isn't it? This place has been around since 1587, and you can really feel that history in its beautiful old building with wood and brick features everywhere. I reckon it's spot on for a proper pub experience, with a fantastic array of drinks like those cask-conditioned ales and a well-stocked bar that keeps things interesting. The beer garden is just brilliant for soaking up the sun or enjoying a chat on a milder evening, and from the buzz around their Sunday roasts, they're clearly doing something right in the kitchen. The team there seems genuinely helpful, especially if you're planning an event or a get-together – they've got stories of making birthdays memorable and all. But, fair's fair, if you're eyeing up the rooms for a stay, there was that odd hiccup with bookings that left one person a bit miffed, so it might pay to sort that out directly. All in all, it's a top spot for a pint and some good times, as long as you keep an eye on the details.

Great local historic St Albans pub.
Lovely atmosphere and good selection of beers.
Haven never stayed as live locally so cannot comment on rooms, however there were other customers arriving for a stay whilst in the bar
Honestly, this is such a lovely place.
Went for wander round St Albans and decided to revisit The Goat Inn for the first time in years.
It's slightly off the beaten track but is so worth deviating to.
An old coach inn that has lots of wood and bare brick features and a good-sized beer garden.
There's a great choice on tap here, I didn't eat so haven't rated that.
The staff are a nice bunch of energetic, young, friendly people who really seem to enjoy their jobs, especially Abbey, who came over and had a lovely chat with me.
I won't be waiting so long till my next visit.
I think it's fair to say there's a West Ham supporter here.....
Had a fantastic Sunday roast here today for mother's day absolutely top notch compliments to the chef , the service was great too would highly recommend. Great location too love the traditional pubs in the heart of St Albans
We held my wife's 40th Birthday Party at the Goat Inn. It was fantastic from start to finish. Both Liam and Angel were superstars - made us feel welcome by helping with decorations and music selection. They made the difference. Superb service.
The party size was 50 + 20 kids who all enjoyed the cool little garden. WE WILL BE BACK :-)
Really strange experience trying to book a room here. contacted Michael, the owner via Air B&B with a query before booking a room. He got back to me answering everything So I proceeded to move forward with the booking. He didn’t accept and you lose the request after 24 hours. I then tried a further 2 times. Messaging Michael multiple times. Absolute no correspondence whatsoever. Really strange as seemed more than happy for me to book when first messaging. moved on and booked somewhere else but essentially lost 4 days where I could of booked somewhere else originally. The pub though looks in a great location and I’m sure it’s fantastic. The service trying to book a room however for my experience was terrible.
