About This Pub
Ah, The Globe – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a second home, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and the website, it's got this fantastic community spirit in the heart of Newbury, where you can kick back with a perfectly poured pint or try out one of their mean cocktails like the Hurricane rum mix. The live music nights sound like an absolute blast, with folks raving about the energy and entertainment, and it's brilliant that they've thought of everyone with options for families, dogs, and even sports fans glued to the telly. On the flip side, it does get a bit hectic at times, which might not suit if you're after something more relaxed, and those moderate prices can sneak up on you. All in all, it's a solid spot for a good laugh with friends – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh any minor niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially with live music events that really get everyone in the spirit – it's a proper lively spot for a great night out.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from exciting beers and ciders on tap to cocktails, wines, and even low or no-alcohol options, so there's something for every taste.
-
It's super welcoming for families and dogs, with child-friendly vibes and a dog-friendly policy, making it easy to pop in with the whole gang.
-
The service is spot on, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, and they've got Sky Sports, TNT, and more for catching the big matches.
-
Quirky decor and cosy areas like sofas and booths add a nice touch, perfect for chatting with mates or enjoying a quiet drink in a corner.
Cons
-
The place can get quite lively, especially during events or match days, which might not be ideal if you're after a peaceful pint.
-
With moderate prices, it could add up for a full evening, so it's worth keeping an eye on the tab if you're planning a longer stay.
-
There might be some confusion with opening hours, as the schedule varies a bit, so it's best to double-check before heading out.
