About This Pub
Ah, The Glittering Star, what a gem it must have been back in the day! From what folks have shared, it's got that warm, welcoming feel where the staff and regulars make you feel like part of the gang straight away. The drinks are a highlight too—proper organic beers and ciders that stand out from the crowd, even if the prices have jumped up a bit lately, which might make you think twice before ordering another round. It's all about enjoying the moment without phones or gadgets getting in the way, which is brilliant for a good old chinwag and some laughs over a game of pool. But, honestly, it's a bit gutting to hear it might have closed down a few years ago; that recent word from someone saying it's been shut for ages really puts a question mark over planning a visit. Still, if it's up and running, it's worth checking out for that authentic pub experience—though I'd recommend giving it a quick scout first to avoid disappointment. All in all, it's got heaps of charm, but like any spot, it's got its flaws, so go in with your eyes open for a balanced night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff and locals are incredibly friendly, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
The beer, cider, and lager are top-notch, all brewed organically for that real quality taste.
-
It's a proper old-school spot with great banter and a welcoming vibe, perfect for a laugh and some pool games without any distractions.
-
The no-tech policy means you can actually chat and enjoy the company, which is a nice change from the usual screen-scrolling nights out.
Cons
-
There's been a hefty price hike of £1 per pint, which could put a dampener on things for those watching their wallet.
-
The no-phones rule might not suit everyone, especially if you're used to snapping pics or checking in.
-
It seems like the place might have shut its doors a few years back, based on the latest chatter, which is a real shame.
-
With only a handful of reviews and no clear operating hours, it's tricky to know if it's still buzzing or not.

Great pub, run by nice people. Standard Sam Smith in the respect of no technology (mobile ,laptops, etc). Shame about the recent price increase by £1 per pint. Likely to put some people off.
Quiet pub with friendly locals and staff , the the beer, cider and Lager are brewed organically so are top quality. Unfortunately due to the Corona virus the owner Of Sam Smiths brewery Humprey has put up all pints by £1 😖. Even with this cost increase the quality is far better than the mass produced rubbish full of chemicals you get in most pubs .
Lovely friendly managers and customers. Made to feel so welcome and had such a great laugh. Mobile phones are nor allowed which was not a problem, was having such a good time I didn't need to clock into Facebook 😂
Bad language is prohibited also but who likes a fouled mouth loser anyway? 😉😊

Lovely place if you want to go for a drink, it's old times but the banter is quality! Me and the fiancé went in for a game of pool and a drink, and it was great. No one looked at use because we where new comers!
