About This Pub
Ah, The George – it's one of those pubs that really feels like the heart of the community in Rugby, doesn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's a top spot for enjoying some seriously tasty grub, like their famous Sunday roasts that come with all the trimmings you could wish for, or a cracking burger that leaves you satisfied. The vibe inside is light, bright, and just inviting enough to make you settle in for a good chat, and with a spacious beer garden, it's even better on a sunny day. They're ace for families too, welcoming kids and dogs without any fuss, and the drinks selection is spot on, especially if you're into cask ales or catching the latest sports action. Service-wise, it sounds like the team goes the extra mile to make everyone feel at home. But let's be honest, it's not all perfect – there have been a few grumbles about food not always being cooked just right, like an overdone steak that let someone down. Still, with most folks raving about it and an overall solid rating, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area; just keep expectations realistic for a busy local spot. All in all, it's a place that does community pubs proud, with more highs than lows.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, with standout dishes like those legendary Sunday roasts packed with unlimited Yorkies and roasties – perfect for a proper hearty meal.
-
It's got a warm and welcoming atmosphere, light and bright inside with plenty of seating, making it ideal for catching up with mates over a drink.
-
A great selection of beers and ales, plus they show sports like Sky Sports and host events, so it's brilliant for watching the game.
-
Family-friendly vibes all round, with kids and dogs welcome, and a lovely beer garden for enjoying the outdoors when the weather's playing nice.
-
The service is top-notch and attentive, as many have mentioned, with staff creating a real community feel that makes you want to come back.
Cons
-
Occasionally, the kitchen might not hit the mark, like when someone ordered a medium steak and it came out dry and overcooked – a bit disappointing.
-
It can get pretty busy at times, which might make it a tad noisy if you're after a quiet, relaxed chat over your pint.

Nice old pub. Decent choice menu. Disappointed with my steak. Asked for medium, but it was dry and over cooked
Despite growing up in the area this was my first "proper" time at The George and, have to say, first impressions were very good.
Light, bright decor inside with plenty of seating options, including a dedicated dining area for meals and a spacious beer garden. Good atmosphere inside, with relaxing selection of background music that wasn't so loud as to be intrusive.
Service was brilliant throughout, from the bright, friendly greeting on our arrival to the attentive staff looking after us during meal. Food allergy advised at time of booking was reiterated by the staff when taking our orders, which was reassuring.
And, on the subject of the meal, the food was excellent - good portion sizes, very tasty and reasonably priced too. Everyone in our group was very happy with what they had.
Would definitely recommend and, although we don't really get out much, we'll definitely be back.
Brilliant Pub. What a find! Sky sports, cask Ales. Came for 6 Nations and be back soon. Food was Delish the chicken bacon burger was very good. Karen was also amazing. Warm welcoming and created the atmosphere.
A warm atmosphere, the service is good and the beer is fantastic
Food was very good. My father remarked that it was excellent fish and chips, and my Thai vegetable curry was delicious. Very busy (seems popular), but still able to hear our own conversation.
