About This Pub
Ah, The George – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in London, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; folks rave about the fish and chips, smash burgers, and those hearty Sunday roasts that leave you feeling chuffed. The service is another highlight – the team there seems genuinely attentive and helpful, whether you're sorting out a birthday bash or something more sombre like a wake, and they've got that knack for putting everyone at ease. It's dead family-friendly too, with books, toys, and a nice garden out back, which is perfect if you're out with the kids and need a bit of distraction. On the flip side, if you're mad about ales, you might be a tad disappointed with the selection; it's not the most varied, so it could leave beer enthusiasts wanting more. Prices can mount up for a full meal, mind you, so it's worth keeping an eye on the bill if you're watching the pennies. All in all, it's a solid spot for a good time, with that warm, community feel that makes you want to return – just go in with realistic expectations for the drinks menu, and you'll likely have a brilliant visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – think cracking fish and chips, smash burgers, and a proper Sunday roast that hits the spot every time.
-
The staff are incredibly warm and professional; they're always on hand to make you feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or hosting a special event.
-
It's a brilliant spot for families, with toys, books, and a lovely garden to keep the little ones entertained while you relax.
-
They handle events like birthday parties or even funeral wakes with real care and expertise, making it a versatile choice for all sorts of gatherings.
-
The atmosphere is just charming, from the quirky Tardis entrance to the ladies' and the overall cosy vibe that makes you want to linger.
Cons
-
The ale selection isn't the most classic or extensive, so if you're a real ale aficionado, you might find yourself wanting more variety beyond the bottled options.
-
It can get a bit pricey for a family meal, as one reviewer noted paying £81 for a few mains and extras, which might add up if you're on a tight budget.

Excellent waystop just off the Capital Ring. Really good fish & chips and a smash burger. Not a classic selection of ales but found a pleasant Red Session Hen in a bottle. Love the Tardis entrance to the Ladies.
Hanging out with a couple of friends here today and everything was great. The food portion and quality is great and we are going to have a birthday party here. Will keep you posted 😊
Recently had my mother in law's funeral wake here. Absolutely brilliant service, very warm, friendly & extremely professional. When we spoke to Karen about the arrangements, she was so helpful & able to offer us advice about what works & how they manage things. She really put us at ease & reassured us, as we were a little nervous trying to organise such a sensitive event.
On the day, everything went very smoothly. Karen's mum & staff on the day, didn't disappoint in delivering. Many of our family & friends commented on what turned out to be the perfect choice of venue.
We will definitely be returning soon, to enjoy a few drinks & a bite to eat.
Great food (we had beef and chicken Sunday roast with desserts), very kind service and a beautiful place. Nice for kids since there are toys and books! Also nice garden! Would definitely come back!
We went here for a family meal on my birthday. We had a great time with my 12 year old son and 2 year old daughter. There were lots of books and board games to keep my little girl occupied, they deserve thanks for that. We paid £81 for three main courses, one chips, two desserts, one soft drink and a bottle of sauvignon blanc white wine. The portions were quite adequate. All the food and desserts were delicious. Also, I'm sorry I forgot her name, but there was a friendly and polite waiter, I would like to thank him for that. We will definitely come back here again.
