About This Pub

You know, when I think about Greenes – or Peggy's, as it's apparently called these days – it's got this charming, unpretentious feel that's just right for a laid-back evening. The staff really stand out; they're so welcoming and quick to make you feel part of the gang, which is exactly what you want in a local Irish pub. Plus, the pints of Guinness are spot on and won't break the bank, making it a solid choice for a casual catch-up with mates. It's kept nice and tidy too, with that genuine Irish warmth that makes you want to linger. On the downside, it's not as spacious as it once was after they shut off the pool area, so it might feel a bit cosy for a bigger group. And that business about it possibly being members only? Well, that could be a bit off-putting if you're not in the know, as it might limit who can join in the fun. Overall, with a decent 4.2 rating, it's worth a visit if you're nearby, but maybe check ahead to avoid any surprises – it's got heart, but it's not without its little flaws.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always making you feel right at home for a proper chat.
  • You can get a cracking pint of Guinness or other beers at really affordable prices, which is a treat for anyone watching their wallet.
  • It's got that authentic Irish vibe, with a neat and clean atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing and enjoying a good natter.
  • From what I've heard, it's a cosy spot where you might catch some live music or just soak in the local friendliness.
Cons
  • The place has shrunk a bit since they closed off the pool room, making it feel smaller and a tad more cramped than it used to.
  • There's mention of it being members only in some cases, which could put a damper on things if you're just popping in for a quick drink.
  • With not many recent reviews, it might not be as lively or up-to-date as other spots, so you could be in for a quieter night than expected.

It's now called Peggy's. Good little Irish bar. Staff friendly and helpful. It's smaller than it was a few years ago as they have closed off where the pool room used to be.

Members only apparently.. being an O'Donnell, it's a first for me from an Irish pub and I am certain it had nothing whatsoever to do with my Asian wife.

Great little discovery today while I waited for my car to be serviced. This seems to me to be a true Irish bar. Spent a couple of hours talking to an Irish local. Cheap Guiness and beer in general.. And the place was very neat and clean. Very nice surprise.
