About This Pub

Ah, The Fox & Fiddler – what a gem of a spot in the middle of Colchester! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with that classic old-school pub charm, where the staff go out of their way to make sure you're looked after, just like chatting with mates down the local. I love how they've got a cracking selection of drinks at prices that won't break the bank, and that little courtyard out back is just the ticket for a relaxed afternoon or evening. It's brilliant for a casual catch-up or even celebrating something special, with a pool table adding a fun twist to the night. On the downside, it does seem to be a bit less buzzing than some of the other places nearby, which could make it feel a touch subdued if you're after a proper lively sesh. Still, it's got that genuine, welcoming feel that's hard to beat, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a proper pint and a chat without all the hype.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's smack in the heart of Colchester town, making it dead easy to pop in after a wander around.
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, attentive, and they really make you feel at home.
  • There's a lovely little courtyard out the back, perfect for enjoying a drink on a sunny day or if you're stepping out for a smoke.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks, including pints at a reasonable price like a fiver for Stella, which is always a winner.
  • It's got a welcoming, down-to-earth vibe where everyone feels included, and there's even a pool table for a bit of fun if you're in the mood.
Cons
  • It can feel a tad quieter than some of the busier spots in town, which might not suit those after a more lively atmosphere.
  • While it's charming, there aren't as many modern touches or online info available, so it might fly under the radar for some folks.

It's right next to spoons right in the centre of Colchester town. There's a small garden and a pool, if you fancy playing. It's actually a small pub where you could probably celebrate your special occasions. A pint of Stella is a fiver. So easy to do the maths 😃

Love this place. Just an old fashioned boozer in the heart of town. It's a shame to see it less busy than other places, but I recommend you use it or lose it. Not many places like this left in the centre of town these days.
