About This Pub
Ah, let me share a bit about The Fountain Inn – it's one of those unassuming spots in Tipton that really warms the cockles of your heart once you step inside. From the reviews I've seen, the food stands out as a highlight; people rave about the fresh, hearty dishes, like massive Christmas dinners or simple lunchtime fare, all cooked with care and served up with a smile. The staff are genuinely lovely, creating that easy-going atmosphere where you can chat with the locals or just unwind by the canal. It's got this charming historical nod to the Tipton Slasher, which adds a fun layer of local lore to your visit, and being inexpensive means it's accessible for a quick pint or a full meal without fuss. On the downside, though, the beer choices can feel a bit sparse sometimes, and if you're a purist about your ales, you might find them served a touch too cold for traditional tastes. Plus, without a website, it's not the easiest to plan ahead. All in all, it's a solid pick for anyone looking for a friendly pub experience, but just keep those little niggles in mind for the best visit.

-
It's inexpensive, so you can enjoy a proper pint or meal without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
The beer selection can be a bit limited at times, with only a few cask ales on offer.
-
They tend to serve the beers quite chilled, which might not be everyone's cup of tea if you prefer them warmer.
-
No website or online presence makes it tricky to check details in advance, like the exact menu or events.
-
Operating hours can vary a tad, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any surprises.

Fantastic Black Country pub. Well worth a visit, especially if you are in a canal boat. Safe moorings on the off side, outside the doctors surgery. Short walk around to the pub from there.
Great hot and cold food options, and super friendly staff and locals
This is the most brilliant place to eat. The food is amazing all freshly cooked and fresh produce. Had the biggest Christmas dinner I have ever eaten. The landlord is the most amazing chef and host. Lovely staff. Lovely atmosphere.
A short walk from the 🚂 station to this canal side 2024 entry into the Good Beer Guide. Down to a choice of 3 cask ales as the Park Life has just gone. They seem to like their cask well chilled here.
We first visited here 2 years ago - delighted to say nothing has changed a very friendly welcome when you arrive! Very near the mooring at Coronation Park. Food available at lunchtime, looks fabulous but we haven’t eaten here. Would happily recommend this canalside pub - children and dogs only at certain times, phone to check.
The home of the Tipton slasher bare knuckle fighter. William Perry was a bare knuckle champion in the 1850 to 1857. In 1836 he trained at the Fountain Inn and is a local Victorian legend even today. The pub is nice and cosy and has got a nice selection of beers. It also serves food and there's a outdoor seating area as well.
