About This Pub

Ah, The Fountain Beefeater – it's one of those places that feels like a reliable old mate for a bite in Twickenham. I have to say, what really stands out is how they do affordable grub so well; their lunchtime deals are an absolute gem, letting you dive into some hearty mains without breaking the bank, and the food itself is spot-on for anyone craving a good steak or classic pub fare. The atmosphere is just right for a laid-back chat over drinks, and the staff often go out of their way to make you feel at home, which adds a nice touch to the whole experience. On the other hand, it's not without its flaws – you might run into a few niggles like unexpected charges for extras or the occasional service hiccup when things get hectic, and it's a shame if the tables aren't quite up to scratch. All in all, it's worth popping in for a meal with friends or family, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe check for any specials first; it's got that comforting pub charm, but like any spot, it shines brightest when everything clicks.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food deals are absolutely brilliant – you can snag some tasty mains for under £8 during lunchtime, which is a real winner if you're looking to save a bit.
  • They've got a great selection of dishes, especially for meat lovers, with generous portions that leave you feeling satisfied.
  • The service is generally warm and friendly, making the whole experience feel welcoming and relaxed.
  • It's a lovely spot for families or a casual catch-up, with options like outdoor dining to enjoy on a sunny day in Twickenham.
Cons
  • Some items can run out unexpectedly, like certain ingredients, which might leave you a bit disappointed if you're set on something specific.
  • There are a few cheeky extra charges, such as for sauces, that can feel a tad stingy when you're already paying for your meal.
  • Service can be hit or miss when it's busy, with potential waits or the odd mix-up that takes the shine off things.
  • A couple of folks have mentioned the tables not always being as clean as you'd hope, which isn't ideal for a relaxed outing.

Went here in a summer afternoon. Slightly disappointed as we went to eat the 3 starts for £15 unfortunately there where no prawns avaible. We ordered potstoe wedges 4/10 (big chunk of jacket potatoe just cut up) , calamari 6/10 (unique calamari) & koreon chicken wing 8/10 (they where delicious but the sauce should of covered the wing). We also got 2-4-1 during there happy hours. Overall the service provided was lovely, the sitting area in garden is open and lovely space. Still need to come to taste the main food, would recommend.

Had a pleasant meal, late afternoon on Sunday. Nice steaks which were cooked well. Roast dinner was good value. Good portion sizes and fast service. Only criticism is that there's £1 charge for barbecue sauce which i thought was rather mean and pointless (other sauces are free).

This is my second visit to a Beefeater, the first time was far better than imagined so my expectations were high. However this branch is exactly how I imagined this chain to be. The restaurant was very busy and there was only one waitress serving. When she got to us she was cheerful and apologetic for our wait and took our order. Surprisingly the starters arrived fairly quickly, the chicken wings were crunchy and the mushrooms were garlicy. I found it odd that the mushrooms came with a BBQ dip rather than an alioli or mayonnaise. The main course soon arrived, the presentation was good and my steak was cooked the way I like it, my only criticism was the quality of the sirloin. The cut was very grisly and some parts of the meat were chewy while other parts were tender, my wife's comments were the same. We would have had dessert but no one came to clear our table, after 10 minutes of staring at dirty plates we just put on our coats and walked to the till to pay the bill. Lastly, the toilets: the gents were ok, looked clean and smelled fresh but my wife said that the ladies were grimey with a sticky floor and could do with a deep clean.

Great experience at the Beefeater. Lovely service and atmosphere. Portions are satisfying, the food is fresh and offers many pleasures to meat lovers. Pricing is reasonable. Family spot. I recommand.

Service was alright the wait staff were particularly friendly, but unfortunately everything else was very lacklustre. Table was sticky, the food came out incorrect at first, then some of the items were not great. The halloumi sticks were mediocre, the breaded mushrooms were cold and wet. The mac and cheese admittedly was excellent, however that was masked by how awful the ribs and wings both were. I'd consider going back but only when I'd forgotten how bad this experience was.
