About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Foundry Tap & Kitchen – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Blackburn. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is where it really shines; think juicy, tender roasts and hearty pies that leave you satisfied, with a good variety of options for everyone, including kids and those with dietary needs. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, like that time they surprised someone with a birthday treat – it's those little touches that make a visit memorable. Plus, with perks like an outdoor terrace and free parking, it's spot on for a family outing or even popping in with the dog. But, and I say this as a mate who's been around a few pubs, it's not perfect; it can get quite noisy if there's a group or event, which might put a damper on a quiet catch-up, and the car park filling up means you could be hunting for a space. Still, with such a strong overall rating and positive vibes from recent visits, I'd say it's well worth checking out for a relaxed evening – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious, with standout dishes like tender lamb roasts and traditional pies that really hit the spot.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond, creating a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home.
-
It's got a great family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of facilities, like an outdoor terrace, free parking, and even being dog-friendly for those who bring their furry friends.
-
They offer a relaxed dining experience with real ales, daily specials, and a solid selection of menus, including gluten-free options and Sunday roasts.
Cons
-
It can get a bit noisy at times, especially if there's an event or party going on, which might make it hard to chat over dinner.
-
Parking often fills up quickly, so you might end up having to park elsewhere and walk over, which isn't ideal on a rainy day.
-
Sometimes it feels a tad understaffed, meaning you have to order at the bar yourself, which could slow things down if it's busy.

Really tasted tender food. I had lamb roast and it was tender and juicy. My wife had cheese and onion pie which is exclusive to north of England.
It was Sunday night and there was a party type on right hand side so was slightly loud.
Would come back again
Visiting family in Blackburn on recommendation we visited The Foundry Tap & Kitchen what Superb place service, food and staff were great. As soon as you arrive you can feel the warm atmosphere from the friendly staff. Food is excellent, pipping hot, good variety of starters, main course and desserts. Dog friendly and staff member came out with water for my dog. Thank you to everyone
Amazing food, amazing people. Gareth is lovely and deserves the most credit! He went above and beyond and even brought something out for my birthday, truly an amazing person and had us all laughing.
We used to frequent here when it was the Oyster & Otter.
The carpark was FULL so had to park off site, but it's not because it's small... just many people inside.
We were sat at our table and told to order at the bar when we were ready... considering we had to do that, there were only 2 staff on the bar, so the service was slightly delayed in getting drinks (which we had to pour ourselves, because we ordered nonalcoholic beers).
The food was nice... not amazing, just nice.... there was plenty of it.
I think for the prices of the food, that table service would have been within that price, as other establishments who have relatively the same price bracket offer this.... which also means no queues at the bar area too.
So it was ok/nice, but i wouldn't come again.
Other people will love it, and clearly do.. the place was packed....
We had a family lunch on 28th December and it was really super! Very tasty and plentiful portions. Staff and service excellent and an ideal spacious area was delegated to us. Will definitely return!
