About This Pub

Ah, The Flowerpot – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Mirfield, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and the buzz around it, folks absolutely rave about the wide array of real ales and beers on offer; it's got that traditional feel with options like Ossett and Salt brews that keep people coming back for more. The atmosphere is spot on too – imagine stepping into a cosy spot with a roaring log fire, surrounded by friendly faces and a real sense of community, especially during events like ska bands that add a fun twist. It's dead affordable as well, so you won't feel guilty about staying for another round. On the flip side, it can get heaving on busy nights, which means queuing at the bar might take a bit longer than you'd like, and if you're not a fan of the main beer lines, you might find the choices a tad limited. Plus, no food on the premises is a bit of a downside, but hey, there's a decent fish and chip shop nearby to grab something quick. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening with mates, as long as you're prepared for the crowds and come with an open mind for the brews.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is top-notch, with a fantastic range of real ales, including Ossett and Salt brewery options that really hit the spot for ale enthusiasts.
  • It's got such a welcoming and friendly vibe, with happy crowds and staff who make you feel right at home.
  • The cosy interior, complete with a log fire, gives it that classic country pub charm that's perfect for relaxing evenings.
  • Plenty of outdoor seating out front and a lovely beer garden out back, ideal for enjoying a pint in the fresh air, especially if you're on a bike ride.
  • It's inexpensive, so you can enjoy a great night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • It can get absolutely packed during events like live music, leading to long waits at the bar that might put a dampener on things.
  • The beer choices are heavily focused on certain breweries like Ossett, which might not appeal if that's not your cup of tea – though they do have alternatives.
  • They don't serve food on-site, which is a shame if you're after a bite with your drink, but there are nearby spots like a fish and chip place to sort that out.

The pub is fantastic, absolutely packed with really happy friendly people and a lot of hanpumps on. Unfortunately that's when i noticed they were all Ossett beers (I really don't like them at all) apart from one, White Rat, which everyone seemed to be drinking, and was recommended to me by regular and was spot on.

The only local pub I know of that has Ossett Brewery's chocolate orange stout (Voodoo) on tap as a regular beer. Stop by whenever we pass on our bike rides. Lots of outdoor seating out front and a nice big cosy beer garden round back too. They don't serve food here, but there's a nice Fish & Chip place down the road, so we came today to sit outside with a drink while we ate.
