About This Pub

Ah, The Airedale Heifer – what a lovely spot it is, tucked away in Mirfield. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this real homely feel where the food steals the show; think hearty Sunday lunches that are cooked fresh, packed with flavour, and come in portions that'll have you loosening your belt a notch or two. The staff are just brilliant, always on hand with a smile and quick service, which makes the whole experience feel personal and enjoyable. It's got multiple beer gardens too, ideal for soaking up the sun with a pint, and they've thrown in some fun touches like an 80s playlist for breakfast – now that's a nice surprise! On the flip side, the operating hours look a tad muddled, so you might end up double-checking before heading out, and without a website, it's not the easiest to plan your visit online. Overall, though, with a solid 4.4 rating from folks who've clearly had a great time, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after good food, good company, and that classic pub charm – just go with an open mind and you'll likely leave with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, especially the Sunday roasts and breakfasts – fresh, generous portions, and brilliant value for money, leaving you feeling well chuffed.
  • The staff are so friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to make sure you're looked after, which really adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
  • There are several beer gardens for enjoying a meal or drink outdoors, perfect for a sunny day, and they've got some great entertainment like an 80s playlist to keep things lively.
  • It's open seven days a week with flexible hours, making it easy to pop in for a bite or a bevvy whenever the mood strikes.
Cons
  • The operating hours seem a bit confusing from what's listed, which might leave you scratching your head about when to drop by.
  • No website means it's trickier to check out the menu or book ahead online, so you might have to just turn up and hope for the best.

Visited for Sunday lunch from the new menu and was not disappointed. Despite being quiet for a Sunday lunch time the food was excellent, fresh and great value for money. The staff were friendly and attentive. We left happy and full as the portion size was very generous. We were very impressed and will be back to try more from the new menu.

Now open for breakfast Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Full English Breakfast, and if you’re hungry there’s the “Mega”. Free hot drink refills. Loved the 80’s era playlist.

Oh, wow. Off the back of a FB recommendation by Richard Tree, we decided to treat my father and also my brothers visiting friend from the US to a nice pub lunch at the Airedale Heifer, Mirfield - I rang ahead to check if we could get a table for half two. As it happened, the doors opened shortly before then and Ashley, the brand new landlady, was on her own, looking after the venue which she had only just taken on board, running the place. She warmly welcomed us, gave us a background to her taking on the venue and then took to the kitchen to cook a monster order we gave her. Me and Paul had the Mega Meat Platter, Carol had the Buttermilk Chicken Burger and Caroline had the five starter dishes deal - a lot of food for the lot of us with any excess heading to dads small plate to nibble at. While the Platters were all incredible, and Carol gave the chicken burger a solid thumbs up, the standout for us was the Fried Cauliflower Wings with Ginger and Soy Sauce - truly moreish and I couldn’t stop picking at them, even when the stunning meats had filled me up (the chicken was a highlight, utterly buttery). The Airedale is a great venue with a cracking bar, a marvellous menu and a very warm welcome: highly, highly recommended.
