About This Pub

Ah, The Fleet – it's one of those hidden gems in Purfleet that I've heard so much about from mates, and from what I've seen, it's spot on for a proper pub experience. Picture this: you're tucking into a cracking Sunday roast with juicy beef or lamb, loads of veg, and those Yorkshire puds that just hit the spot, all for a price that won't leave you skint. The folks running the place really know how to make you feel at home, with brilliant service that's perfect for family days out or even throwing a party – think bouncy castles and DJs for the kids' birthdays. It's got that warm, traditional feel, which is just what you want after a wander around the area. But, fair's fair, it's not without its quirks; the hours are a bit limited, so you might have to plan ahead if you're keen on a midweek pint, and it can be on the quiet side sometimes, which isn't ideal if you're after a bit more buzz. Still, with all the glowing feedback on the food and value, I'd say it's well worth a visit – just pop in when it's open and see for yourself; you might end up making it your go-to local!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, especially those Sunday roasts – tender meats, perfectly done veggies, and roast potatoes that could rival anyone's gran's recipe!
  • It's a family-run spot with a warm, welcoming vibe, making it ideal for family outings or hosting parties; the staff go above and beyond to make everything special.
  • Incredible value for money – you get top-notch grub and drinks without breaking the bank, as plenty of folks have raved about meals under £40 for two.
  • Friendly service that feels personal and attentive, with reviews highlighting how helpful the team is for events like birthdays.
  • High marks overall, with a solid 4.3 rating from loads of happy visitors, and it's great for a relaxed pint or a full meal in a homely setting.
Cons
  • Opening hours can be a bit restrictive, with the place closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and early closures on other days, so it's not always an option for spontaneous visits.
  • It might feel a tad quiet at times, which could be a downside if you're after a lively atmosphere, as one review mentioned it being peaceful but not buzzing.
  • The decor is fairly straightforward and plain, so if you're expecting something fancy or modern, it might come across as a bit basic and unassuming.

We had our son’s 21st birthday party at the fleet and it was brilliant. The staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us and the Dj was superb too. We will definitely be using again for all future parties

What a find. Visited on 9/3/25 as we were in the area. Both had the roast dinners, me beef and my friend had lamb. Everything about the food was high quality and for the price, amazing value. Both the beef and the lamb were tender and tasty, great selection of lovely roast potatoes, yorkshire pud and several different vegetables, all done perfectly. Sauces and extra gravy supplied were also excellent. Desert was a cheesecake (shared) with plenty of cream which was also excellent. Menu costs, including drinks of one pint of nice IPA and one white wine spritzer came to £40, amazing value for a great lunch. Decor fairly plain but very clean and friendly waitress service, what's not to like? Highly recommended

This place has proven to be absolutely amazing for a birthday party. The kids absolutely loved it! It is not only massive in size (and can take a 10x12ft bouncy castle) but also cozy, warm with food and drink on the budget! The owner was most helpful in planning and facilitating the party - we really appreciate it. The food and drinks were amazing so we will be back more often!
