About This Pub
Ah, The Excelsior – it's one of those pubs that just feels right when you're out for a pint in Liverpool. From the reviews, it's clear folks love the wide range of cask ales on tap; one chap mentioned having at least eight options, which sounds like a treat for anyone who appreciates a good brew. The space is generous and inviting, with a huge central bar and plenty of spots to sit, whether you're up for a game of darts or just watching the telly with a drink in hand. The staff really shine too, with their friendly chats and helpful service making every visit feel like catching up with old mates. It's especially handy for group events, like that retirement bash someone raved about, where they sorted a buffet and made it a night to remember. On the flip side, it's a shame they don't do food, so if you're peckish, you might have to plan ahead and grab something nearby. All in all, with its solid reputation and welcoming atmosphere, it's a top spot for a laid-back evening, but keep in mind it might not cover all the bases if you're after a full meal out.

Serves a good pint! Had at least 8 cask ales when I visited. Nice old pub feel. Spacious. Loads of seating, by the bar as well. Service staff are great, great banter too. Huge bar in the middle of the pub
We popped into The Excelsior hoping to find some food and a pint...we did not find food (we were told they do not serve food) but did decided to stay for a pint. The young gentlemen serving fresh pints of beer and cider were very friendly and pleasant. It was also nice to get to watch golf on the TVs while we sipped our drinks.
Lovely pub. Nice atmosphere and easy access to dart board 👍
Great pub ‘The Excy’ to celebrate my retirement last Friday! Great night and Rachel and the Excy team were fabulous - thank you so much - we had the BEST time! Booked the back room with a gorgeous buffet and everyone had a proper old fashioned fun night in the pub! xx
This place was a pleasant surprise, I just decided to stumble in for a pint. Bright and large space with an expansive central bar that runs 360 degrees. Some folks playing games in the back, a group of girls having a pub day, and a few others watching fifth tier English soccer. Sunshine coming through the windows and a Landlord in hand. Hard to beat.
