About This Pub

You know, chatting about The Elmers Arms feels like sharing a pint with mates—it's got this brilliant, welcoming energy that's hard to beat. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's a fantastic spot for catching live bands or just enjoying a dance to some obscure '60s tunes; one reviewer raved about seeing The Razorblades there with their kid, saying the atmosphere was spot-on for a proper gig. The staff sound like absolute stars, always friendly and adding to that cool, characterful feel, while the drinks are reasonably priced with a solid range of local brews. On the flip side, it does get heaving during events, so you might end up elbow-to-elbow, and it's only open four days a week, which could be a letdown if you're not planning ahead. Overall, it's a place that does live music and community vibes really well, but worth noting those quirks if you're heading out for a relaxed evening.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially during live music nights—perfect for a fun, energetic evening with friends.
  • Friendly staff and a welcoming crowd make you feel right at home, like you're part of the gang from the moment you walk in.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of locally brewed beers and ales, all well-priced so you won't break the bank.
  • It's a real characterful spot, full of that independent pub charm, with events like gigs and dancing that keep things lively and memorable.
Cons
  • It can get pretty packed during events, so you might have to arrive early to snag a spot and avoid the crush.
  • Only open four days a week, which means it's not always an option if you're after a spontaneous midweek drink.
  • No website or phone number listed, making it a bit tricky to check what's on or get in touch beforehand.

Just saw German band The Razorblades here and took my 14 year old son. The band were incredible and the venue had a perfect friendly atmosphere for a wonderful energetic dancing gig. Drinks were well priced and the staff and DJ were glorious. We look forward to returning many times :)

I love this pub so much! They have very good taste, and often nights playing obscure '60s records. Everyone ends up dancing all together and having a lovely time :) The woman who works behind the bar is very very lovely and always looks like a cool lady from the 1940s! I also appreciate that they have an actual women's toilet. This shows respect for their female customers. Keep it up!

I have seen some brilliant bands at this small atmospheric pub. Great frequently updated selection of locally brewed beers/ales etc. It does get very crowded when bands play so arrive early. Bands usually start at 10pm. Well worth the visit.
