About This Pub
Ah, The Eight Bells – what a lovely little spot in Fulham! I've got to say, it's one of those pubs that just feels right, you know? From the moment you step in, you're greeted with that classic British charm, and it's dead welcoming for dogs, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your pooch after a walk. The beers are spot on too; they've got a great range of ales and bitters that really hit the spot, and the food? Well, the fish finger sandwich and Sunday roasts are absolute winners – I've heard they're among the best around, and I can see why folks rave about them. The team behind the bar are so friendly, always up for a chat, which makes the whole experience feel personal and fun. It's especially buzzing during big events like football games, where the energy is electric and you can soak up that community spirit. On the flip side, it might not be the place for a full night out; some have mentioned it's more of a quick pint before heading off, so if you're after something more lively all evening, you might want to keep that in mind. And honestly, their website was a bit of a let-down when I tried to look it up, which is a shame as it could help with planning. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a hearty meal – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area!

It has a lively atmosphere, especially during events like football matches, which really brings the place to life.
Cons

It might feel more like a quick stop rather than a place for a long evening, based on some feedback.
-
The online presence seems a bit lacking, as I couldn't get much from their website, which might make it harder to check details in advance.

We like this traditional dog friendly pub as a stop before taking to the tube at Putney Bridge station. There's a good selection of Ales and Bitter on tap.

The Eight Bells is located close to the northern end of Putney Bridge in Fulham, Southwest London. The nearest Tube is Putney Bridge, make sure you check out the WWII bunker at the end of the westbound platform.
The pub dates from the 18th century is the oldest surviving pub in Fulham. The pub was first licensed in 1629 as the Blue Anchor, it became The Eight Bells by 1754.
From 1886 to 1888, Fulham FC used the pub as a changing room, they played at the nearby Ranelagh House until that site was used for housing.
This is a traditionally decorated one bar pub that has a cosy oldschool feel. The servery is horseshoe shaped with the bar forming a “U” shape around it. To the right of the servery is an open kitchen with a specials board to the left. The decor is superb and consists of pews around the periphery, a 1930’s brick fireplace, a grandfather clock, wooden panelling, loads of knickknacks and not forgetting the proper pub carpet. One interesting item adorning the walls, was a page from The Morning Advertiser dated May 1846, it was found during renovation in 1991.
The beer line up is impressive and offers a varied selection of brews including craft, bonafide continental lager and five cask ales for the cultured imbiber. I decided Krombacher Pils, my was great, price point was above average. The food menu is classic pub grub staples, Fish & Chips costs £13.45. For any Canadians living in London, this pub serves up Poutine.
I arrived just after 10am on a pleasant but chilly Saturday morning in March. I was first one in the door so I had a good mooch about. I got chatting to Billy who has been the cleaner at the pub for forty years. Billy told me about the history of the pub and was cracking a few jokes at the same time, what a lovely fella. The pub soon started filling up with loyal locals and a big group of Aussies who plotted up outside. The service was first class, I received a friendly welcome from the Barman in duty.
The @eightbellsfulham is an absolutely outstanding boozer, my favourite pub visit this year.

With Fulham vs. Manchester United and all the Manchester United fans gathered here...wow! What an incredible experience! The energy and atmosphere were absolutely electric. It definitely wasn’t your typical day of the week. I highly recommend it to any football fan!
So happy I found this gem of a pub! The staff are beyond nice & welcoming and the food is top notch. Fish finger sandwich lunch deal is 5 star, we just had a roast beef dinner Sunday lunch and it was the best I’ve had In fulham in Fact I’d say top 5 in London! We live in the neighbourhood so this is definitely our new regular local
