About This Pub

Ah, The Effra Hall Tavern – it's one of those spots that really gets you in the mood for a good night out in London. From what I've gathered, it's got this brilliant atmosphere with live bands cranking out Jamaican rhythms and other tunes, especially in the evenings, which makes it feel so alive and full of energy. The crowd is a proper mix from different communities, and that adds to the fun – it's like everyone's in on the excitement together. The staff are often spot on, being friendly and on top of things, and they've got some tasty options like the Cranberry breeze and Rasta Pasta that could make your evening even better. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; there are tales of the odd staff member being a bit sharp or unhelpful, which might leave you feeling a tad disappointed after a long day. Still, with an overall rating pushing 4.5, it's clear this place does a lot right, so if you're up for some live music and a chat with mates, it's worth a punt – just keep your expectations in check for the service.

Pros and Cons

It's got seating inside & outside the pub. Great place with live band in the evening. They have bands playing Jamaican & other songs playing on different days. Lots of interesting people come in from all communities. It was an exciting & enjoyable evening

I didn't have food, but one of the best community pubs I've been in and I don't mean that in a bad way. The barmaid ( I believe here name was Annabelle, but I think that's not accurate (apologies), was blooming lovely. So we're the other guests there. When I'm next in Brixton, I will definitely be visiting again. Thankyou for a great afternoon. 🍻

Guys. You know I often have many negative words to say. But today? None. The Cranberry breeze? Perfection. Rasta Pasta? A delicacy deserving of a Michelin Star. I have never had a better time at the pub. Thank you, thank you.

One of the staff members was so incredibly rude to me. After a really stressful day I went here to have a drink and accidentally ordered a cider twice. I was spoken down to and made to feel like an idiot. I even offered to pay for the second drink since I was made to feel so bad. This place was my local but I don’t think I will ever feel comfortable to come back. I understand being frustrated but it’s just not acceptable to speak to customers that way.

My first time visiting this bar with a friend who frequents on occasion. I really had an amazing time. The bar staff are more than friendly but nice guys /girls and competent to match. I was blown away by the band who preformed at 110% making the place electric. Some of the locals didn't seem to appreciate just how lucky they are to have such an amazing bar. I spent time inside as well as outside in the garden that had a real good vibe. The customers were all friendly and spent a lot of my time migling with a few groups during the evening. I'll l definetly be going back Wednesday for more of the same. There's music Wed, Thurs and Sat coming up so gonna make my week of entertainment I think. It's been a long time since Brixton was on my night out agenda but its certainly going to be again. Thanks guys for an amazing evening.
