About This Pub

Ah, The Eastbrook – it's one of those neighbourhood gems that just feels like a proper British pub, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, folks are really chuffed with the food, particularly the curry nights; it's all about those perfectly spiced dishes that hit the spot without any fuss. The service stands out too – the team there seem genuinely warm and eager to make sure everyone has a good time, which makes popping in for a pint or a bite feel effortless. It's open every day from 11am to 11pm, so it's spot on for a spontaneous get-together. On the flip side, though, the Sunday carvery doesn't quite measure up; a couple of people mentioned the choices were slim and it didn't feel like great value for money, which is a shame if you're after a hearty roast. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers looking for reliable grub and a relaxed atmosphere, especially if you're local or just passing through – just keep expectations in check for the specials and you'll likely have a brilliant time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, especially their curry dishes – they're cooked to perfection and served nice and hot, making it a real treat for a midweek meal or casual dinner.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making you feel welcome and right at home, which adds to that cosy pub vibe.
  • It's a proper traditional pub with a welcoming atmosphere, full of locals and great for catching up with friends or family, evoking fond memories of classic British spots.
Cons
  • The Sunday carvery has a rather limited selection and might not feel worth the price, as it doesn't quite live up to expectations for something special.
  • Some experiences suggest it's not exceptional overall, so if you're after a standout meal, you might find it a bit underwhelming in parts.

Called in on the off chance looking for food (staying at the Dagenham East Travelodge) and we were most impressed with the curry dishes on the menu. Food was served nice and hot. Curry and rice cooked to perfection and the service was lovely

I am genuinely shocked by my experience at this so-called “Sunday carvery.” While the food itself was nice, with decent flavours, the overall experience completely let it down. There was barely any selection, and while it wasn’t bad, it certainly wasn’t exceptional or worth the price. What really ruined it for me was the setup. There was absolutely no table service, and the dining area felt like a glorified canteen. Tables were just randomly scattered about in what felt more like a lifeless hall than a proper restaurant. It had absolutely no atmosphere, making it a disappointing setting for a meal. The biggest insult, though, was the price—especially as there was no advertised price anywhere at the start. I didn’t think to ask, as I was expecting it to be reasonable given the average state of the room and the setup. Imagine my shock when we went to pay and were hit with a staggering £18.50 per person! That’s £37.50 for two, and that didn’t even include drinks. I honestly thought the barmaid was joking when she gave us the total. For what we got, it was outright daylight robbery. In conclusion: DO NOT COME HERE. You’ll get completely ripped off for an average experience, even though the food itself was okay. I left feeling nothing but disgusted.
