About This Pub
Ah, The Earl of Mercia – it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon haunts that you can always count on for a straightforward good time in Coventry. From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, it's spot on for anyone after an affordable pint or a hearty meal without the fuss. I love how they've put thought into their beer selection; it's not just the usual suspects, which makes it a treat if you're a bit of a beer enthusiast. The food's another winner – think generous portions of tasty grub like steaks and desserts that won't set you back much, especially for deals like the Valentine's offer. It's got that relaxed, friendly feel that's perfect for catching up with mates or even a quiet solo visit. On the flip side, though, it does get mobbed at times, especially with the student crowd, so you might find yourself jostling for a table or waiting a bit for service. And let's be honest, the decor's pretty no-nonsense – it's functional rather than fancy, which suits some but might not thrill if you're in the mood for something more atmospheric. All in all, it's a solid pick for pub goers looking for value and a good laugh, but keep in mind it shines brightest on quieter days.

Very good Spoons pub popular with Coventry University students as well as others of course. The usual Spoons menu, but I find this Spoons puts more thought into the variety of beers they offer compared to other Spoons nearby. There really is a difference between Spoons' locations. Diogo and the rest of the crew there are busy but lovely and personable.
Beautiful building love a visit here .❤️
Very nice dinner, celebrating the valentine's day , 2 course with Wine just £25 for 2 people. Very nice steaks and dessert.
The Earl of Mercia is a solid Wetherspoon pub that ticks all the right boxes. The food is both affordable and tasty, with generous portions and plenty of options to suit all preferences. The ambience is relaxed and friendly, making it an ideal spot for a casual meal or drinks with friends. Its central location is incredibly convenient, whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or spending an evening out. A dependable choice for good food, great value, and a comfortable atmosphere.
A total storm of a place! Awesome location, nice menu, trippy drinks and club it with some nice weather, the outcome is some real good time! The staff as well is quite helpful and jolly! If you prefer a cosy atmosphere and wish to do away with cold weather, the inside seating is quite apt, but if you are an outside person and like taking on the weather head on, then outside tables are quite fun! The food menu is also bang on and offers a wide array of options!
