About This Pub

Ah, The Duke of Kent – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Ealing, tucked away in a leafy spot that makes you forget you're in the city. I have to say, what really stands out is that stunning garden; it's massive and so well done, with barbecues, a glasshouse, and even table-tennis for a bit of fun in the sun – you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place to enjoy a pint and some al fresco dining. The food's spot on too; think hearty Sunday roasts and tasty sharing plates like loaded chips or feta dip that hit the spot every time, paired with a great selection of wines and beers. The team there are an absolute delight, always cheerful and on hand to sort out bookings or make you feel welcome, whether you're planning a family get-together or just dropping in for a quick bite. It's even dog-friendly, which is a lovely touch for us who like to bring the pooch along. On the flip side, though, the playground area's a bit of a letdown with its mud and drainage problems – I've heard it can spoil the day if you're with kids, leading to early exits when things get too messy. And it does get bustling, so you might have to wait a tad for a table, but overall, it's a solid choice for a good time out, as long as you keep those little niggles in mind.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The garden is an absolute gem – it's spacious, beautifully decorated, and perfect for soaking up the sun with a drink in hand.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with bookings or recommendations, making you feel right at home.
  • They serve up some cracking fresh food and fine wines; the Sunday roasts and pub classics like loaded chips and seafood pie are real winners.
  • It's a brilliant spot for events or gatherings, with options like Shakespeare in the garden adding a fun twist to a day out.
  • Dog-friendly vibes all the way – they've got water bowls and blankets, so it's easy to pop in with your furry friend.
Cons
  • The playground could do with some TLC; it's often muddy with drainage issues, which might cut short a family visit if the little ones get messy.
  • It can get quite busy, so you might find waits for service or tables, especially on Sundays when the roasts are popular.

It’s a great place but I really wish they would sort out the playground for the kids. It is so muddy and clearly has drainage issues. We had to leave the pub early today when we would have spent more money staying the afternoon, because our 5 year old fell over in the mud and was caked in it. We had our driest march since 1910 and April had 10 days of sun and we had a bit of rain this week & the playground looks like it has rained non stop for months. It is the reason we are not having his birthday party there. With summer coming up, I hope they do something to sort it out otherwise it loses its edge being a good place to go to for parents.

I really enjoyed the garden! I came here with my aunt and was really surprised how big and nicely decorated it was. The staff were really nice and attentive. We got the loaded chips and the feta dip. We really loved both of them and would highly recommend.

I'm very grateful to the pub staff. From the day we booked until our activity, they were always ready to help us and answer our questions, very kindly. They made us feel comfortable. It rained heavily that day, and they offered us other options, which made me feel even more confident. All our guests were very happy with the bar service, the food, the facilities and the baby shower event in general. I would definitely choose this place again 🥰

We booked here for a family gathering and got a good large table for ten in one of the smaller rooms. It was a Sunday so most of us went for the Sunday roast, but there were some other choices as well. The food was fine, typical pub fare, and nicely served. It was busy but we were served reasonably quickly by friendly staff. The prices were average for pub meals, though the beer was a little on the expensive side. They had some interesting displays on the walls, one of which was covered with old cutlery.

Really lovely local pub with such warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staffs were very friendly and nice. The fish and chips were decent and the seafood pie was delicious. Guinness and beer were all great. This is a dog friendly pub and surely got the dog approval with their water bowl, blanket and special treat! Would definitely go back again!
