About This Pub
Ah, The Droppingwell, it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Kimberworth, you know? I've got to say, what really stands out is how they nail the food side of things – their menu's packed with classics like pies and roasts that are spot on for value, and it's all served up in a cosy, family-oriented atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The staff are brilliant too, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which is just what you want after a long day. Then there's the entertainment; it's a proper laugh with tribute acts and karaoke that can turn an ordinary evening into something memorable. But, to keep it real, I've heard a few tales of inconsistency, like some folks having issues with how they treat families these days, which might put a dampener on things if you're planning a big family do. And while the ratings are generally high, those recent ones dipping a bit suggest it can be hit or miss. All in all, though, it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time, especially if you're after good food and a bit of fun without spending a fortune.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty pies, fresh sandwiches, and those cracking Sunday roasts that leave you feeling well chuffed without breaking the bank.
-
The staff are a right friendly bunch, always on hand to make sure you're looked after, whether you're popping in for a coffee or settling in for the evening.
-
It's got a lovely family-friendly vibe with plenty of space and a wide menu offering great value, like their 2 for £16 deals, perfect for a casual get-together.
-
Entertainment is a highlight, with tribute acts and karaoke nights that really get the atmosphere buzzing – you might catch something from Mars to Murs!
-
Plenty of parking and a spacious layout make it easy to relax and enjoy your visit without any faff.
Cons
-
There have been a few grumbles about how they handle families, with one review suggesting the new owners might not be as welcoming as you'd hope, which is a shame for group outings.
-
Recent reviews show a bit of inconsistency, like the odd service slip-up, so it might not always hit the mark depending on when you go.
-
While the overall rating's solid, that dip in recent averages means it could vary, and you might not get the full five-star experience every time.

Had a wonderful lunch with my granddaughter. Food was well prepared & service exceptional. Highly recommend
AVOID IF YOU WANT TO GO FOR A FAMILY MEAL!!!! The new owners clearly aren't interested in families. Myself and my family went for a meal last week and they were happy to take our money until they weren't. My 15 year old nephew was with us and a staff member marched up to the table at the end of our meal and pointed at my nephew and said "How old are you"? There were plenty of adults to ask but she asked a minor making him feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed. When my nephew replied with his age the staff member said "you all need to leave as he can't be here after 9.30pm" Had this been done in the right way by either telling us when we first arrived or not serving us a full round of drinks at 9.22pm this wouldn't have been a problem. I said that we need to finish our drinks and inquired why they served us the drinks with an 8 minute window to finish them. I was told it was the law and we had to stand outside in the dark with our drinks. Obviously this wasn't going to be an option so I said "When we have finished our drinks we will leave. I was told again that 'this was the law' with a very bad attitude from the member off staff. I replied saying that if it was the law and she found it necessary to ring the police to ring them and she actually RANG THE POLICE. Another table couldn't believe that they had rung the police. Before the police arrive we had 2 managers and a member off staff stood over us being very aggressive. Firstly we had spent a lot of money in there and secondly what a waste of police time. The police were very understanding from our point of view but had to stick to the establishments contract. Again if they had approached us with the right attitude and not served us the last round of drinks without having time to finish them this wouldn't have been a problem. We will absolutely not be returning.
Safe, my G — meatloaf’s basically a block of minced meat mashed up with breadcrumbs, eggs, onions, herbs, spices, and whatever else man wants to fling in there. It’s mixed, shaped like a loaf (hence the name, innit), then baked like a badman’s meat brick. Usually served sliced with some gravy or ketchup on top, maybe posted up next to mash or veg.
It’s that proper home-cooked, belly-filling kinda grub. Classic in the US, but you’ll see bare versions all over the world. You tryna make some or just curious, fam?
We came with family for our son's birthday, we had been bowling in the morning at superbowl and was looking for some where to eat in the local area. We called to book a table to accommodate 13 of us and they managed to squeeze us in before later reservations. Food was freshly cooked and presented, not a bad meal for anyone in our party, everybody was happy and said how nice it was. We had brought our own cake and they were more than happy to bring it to the table after our meal singing with candles lit. Thankyou to Ashleigh and Charlie who were our main servers and the rest of the team for wonderful service.
There is plenty of parking.
The pub itself is nice with lots of room between the tables.
The staff were very friendly and couldn't fault the service.
There is a wide menu with plenty of choice. Prices offer good value for money.
The food was nice, presented well and reasonable portions.
