About This Pub

So, I was thinking about The Dove the other day, and it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper community hub in London. The staff are dead helpful and always up for a chat, which makes popping in for a pint feel like catching up with friends. The food's a real highlight too – that Sunday roast is spot on, with heaps of tasty grub that leaves you satisfied without breaking the bank. And let's not forget the beer garden; it's massive and ideal for a relaxed afternoon when the weather's on your side, plus there's darts and telly for the sports fans. On the flip side, I heard from a couple of people that they got stung with extra charges for mates who didn't turn up, which does seem a tad unfair after splashing out on a meal. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out, but maybe double-check the booking details to avoid any surprises – that way, you can focus on enjoying the best bits.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and always make you feel welcome, like chatting with old mates.
  • The Sunday roast is an absolute winner – think generous portions and flavours that really hit the spot.
  • It's got a fantastic beer garden, perfect for soaking up the sun on warmer days.
  • The atmosphere is lively and inviting, with darts and sports on the telly to keep things entertaining.
Cons
  • There was an issue with charging extra for no-shows on bookings, which left a bit of a sour taste after a big spend.
  • Not every visit is flawless, as some folks have had mixed experiences that didn't quite live up to expectations.

I've been here a couple of times, and the atmosphere seems to be always the same. We went for a Sunday roast with the family for what we made a reservation over the phone. They ended up charging us £5 per head for a couple of friends that couldn't come over. Doing that after spending a total of £143 and even for a 10 months old baby? Rude staff, so not recommended!
