About This Pub

Ah, the Rusty Bike Pub in Chingford – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks really rave about the Thai noodles and fresh sushi; it's all made with top-notch ingredients, and pairing it with a pint makes for a winning combo. The atmosphere is spot on for unwinding – think relaxed chats over a drink, with the added bonus of catching all the major sports action on the screens, which is perfect if you're into your football. It's conveniently tucked near the station, so it's easy to swing by after work, and they've got a welcoming policy for dogs, which is always a nice touch. On the flip side, while the food's generally well-received, a couple of people mentioned it's more 'solid' than 'mind-blowing', so if you're expecting something revolutionary, you might come away a tad underwhelmed. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.4, it's clear this spot does a lot right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for a laid-back evening out – just go with an open mind and enjoy the vibe!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Thai food is absolutely spot on – fresh, tasty dishes that pair brilliantly with a cold beer, making it a top choice for a relaxed meal out.
  • It's got a really welcoming vibe, perfect for catching up with mates over drinks, and they show all the big sports events like Premier League games on the telly.
  • Location is spot on, right near Chingford Station, so it's dead easy to pop in after a commute, and they've got a great selection of beers, wines, and gins to choose from.
  • The pub's spacious inside with two floors, including a sushi spot upstairs, which is a lovely surprise and makes it feel more versatile for different occasions.
  • Dogs are welcome, which is brilliant if you're out with your furry friend, and the overall atmosphere is friendly and laid-back.
Cons
  • Some folks find the food nice but not particularly standout – it's good for a casual bite, but it might not blow you away if you're after something truly exceptional.
  • There could be a bit of a faff with ordering, like remembering your table number, which might disrupt the flow if you're not used to it.
  • While the drinks selection is solid, a few reviews hint that the food experience isn't always consistent, so you might have a great visit one time and a more average one another.

Such a good spot, Thai food is amazing, the vibe is very relaxed and the beers are cold!

Conveniently located just opposite from Chingford Train Station (Weaver Line) & the Chingford Bus Depot, the Rusty Bike is a great local neighborhood spot to grab a drink (decent replete selection) & chow down on either fresh Japanese or Thai food meal offerings. Fresh hand rolled sushi (am addicted to their Salmon Avacado Tobiko roll) and there’s also a good Thai food menu! Decent selection for anyone to enjoy and priced reasonably. Staff is friendly, attentive and there are usually live sports on multiple screen display. If in the vicinity (very close to the lovely Epping Forest park), do check out the Rusty Bike! Decor is also fun and quirky. Disabled WC on point!

I've passed by this Asian cuisine eatery many times which is opposite Chingford Station. You wouldn't think from the outside that the inside would be so nice and spacious. There are two floors, with a sushi restaurant upstairs, which was a pleasant surprise. I ordered a chicken starter, which was gorgeous, flavoursome and very tasty! I also ordered a beef noodle dish which I didn't enjoy as much. The price for food and drink was very good.

Great food with loads of selections. Two big menus - a Thai one and a Japanese one - just don’t forget to check your table number for when you order food at the bar. And they have a good beer selection too. A great place to watch sports with TVs everywhere

Excellent selection of food - both Thai and Sushi. The food is sent to your table via a very smart tray delivery system. The interior and atmosphere set it apart from the pub (when upstairs in the restaurant). Unfortunately the food did not wow us - it was nice but not anything we'll be coming back for. Definitely worth checking out. It could be that we came on a bad night for the chef.
