About This Pub
Ah, The Dog & Duck – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local spot in London, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food's a real highlight; their pizzas are bang on, with rave reviews about the base and toppings, and it's clear they've got Sunday roasts and other treats that keep people coming back. The staff are an absolute delight, always cheerful and accommodating, which makes it a welcoming place even if you're with the kids – that's not always easy to find in a pub these days. On the flip side, it's not without its downsides; it can turn into a right hubbub on certain evenings, making it tough for a peaceful chat, and there've been a few grumbles about the pizza not being as top-notch as it used to be, with some describing the dough as bland or even having issues with ingredients that didn't quite hit the mark. All in all, it's a solid choice for pub goers looking for good grub and a friendly face, but I'd say it's worth checking the timing to avoid the crowds and maybe keeping expectations in check for consistency – that way, you're in for a treat without any surprises.
Pros and Cons

The pizza here is absolutely spot on – it's got a delicious base and is one of the best you'll find in Walthamstow, perfect for a satisfying meal with mates.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming; they go out of their way to make everyone feel at home, which is especially great if you're popping in with the family.
-
They've got a solid selection of beers and the overall vibe is warm and inviting, making it a top choice for a relaxed catch-up.
-
Service is quick and efficient, so you won't be left hanging around, which really adds to the enjoyable experience.
Cons
-
It can get pretty busy and noisy, especially on Friday evenings, so if you're after a quiet pint, you might want to pick your time wisely.
-
Some folks have mentioned that the pizza quality has slipped a bit lately, with the dough feeling a tad crusty and tasteless at times.
-
There have been occasional issues with specific ingredients, like off-tasting toppings, which could put a dampener on your meal.

Ate here today as a group of 7 kids and 2 adults - we came here for our daughter’s birthday after an earlier activity. Food was great and really appreciated the quick and friendly service from staff.
The Dog and Duck is my favourite Walthamstow pub. Excellent pizza (and I'm fussy) and good beer. 5 stars mostly because how good the bar staff are. I go in with kids a lot. I have kids, they come with me, that's the deal. Kids and pubs can be a bad mix, but the staff are understanding, and always friendly. Great for watching football. Football, beer, pizza... What else do you need... Well obviously all the random interesting items strewn all over the place. Harry Kane shrine, East 17 tributes. It's all there.
We have been to this pub on several occasions and pizza is always good, base is delicious. In my opinion, this is one of the best pizza places in Walthamstow.
If you like a quiet place, I wouldn’t recommend going there on Friday early evening, as it can be very busy and noisy. Several times we ordered pizza to take away and later ate it at home in a peace and quiet, which is a win-win too.
The atmosphere has improved recently but unfortunately the pizzas that used the be amazing are now below average. The dough is different now, lots of crust and tasteless. We asked for a refund as the sun dried tomatoes tasted off. We had primavera and margarita.
I used to go to the D&D about 35 years ago, and it's changed a bit! Had Guinness and a stone fired pepperoni pizza and both were excellent. Really, and I mean REALLY, friendly staff couldn't do enough for you. I am definately going to return.
