About This Pub

Ah, The Dog and Pickle – what a gem of a spot in Wrexham! I have to say, it's one of those places that just makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The food is where it really shines; think mouthwatering Sunday lunches with perfectly roasted pork, or that fresh sea bass that's so tasty you'd go back just for it. The staff are an absolute delight, always checking in to ensure you're happy and sorting out any minor niggles without a fuss – it's that personal touch that elevates the experience. Plus, the beer garden is a proper treat on a nice day, offering a relaxed setting to unwind with a pint or two. On the flip side, you might notice a brief wait for your meal since it's all made fresh, which honestly feels like a fair trade for the quality, but it's something to keep in mind if you're in a rush. And while one or two tables might not be everyone's cup of tea, the team handles it so smoothly that it doesn't spoil the fun. All in all, it's a solid choice for a bite with friends, blending great flavours, good cheer, and that classic pub charm without any pretence.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with delicious options like hearty Sunday roasts, fresh sea bass, and steak and ale pie that really hit the spot.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile to sort out any little issues and make sure everything's just right.
  • It's got a lovely, welcoming atmosphere with a cracking beer garden that's ideal for soaking up the sun or enjoying a quiet pint.
  • Everything's cooked fresh, which means you get that genuine homemade quality, even if it takes a tad longer sometimes.
Cons
  • There might be a short wait for your food now and then, as it's all prepared fresh, but it's not a deal-breaker.
  • Some tables could feel a bit off for certain tastes, though the team is quick to move you if needed.

Had Sunday lunch here today. I didn’t like our table but a most helpful staff member moved us with no fuss. Our drinks came quickly. Our lunch was a pork roast and it was delicious. Our waitress check that everything was ok. A lovely experience. Thank you.

I ordered sea bass and it was totally delicious We were advised there would be a short delay as all our food was cooked fresh which we appreciated. I was the only one to have a desert and when it arrived ( after a reasonable wait) our server apologised for the delay ( I hadn’t spotted it😀) and took it off the bill Good food AND proactive customer service that gets 5 stars from me

We had such an awesome dinner there tonight, as the food and service was amazing! Our servers and Olivia went above and beyond to ensure that we had an awesome meal. The owner Steve was also very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious, especially their wings and pork bao buns. The fish and chips were good, and the homemade steak and ale pie was nice. It was a bit on the heavier side and slightly dry, but the sauce made it much better. Overall, this is a great option for food in the Pulford area, as the service and atmosphere was very good. This was a pleasant surprise and highly recommend going there for a meal or even just a pint!
