About This Pub
Ah, The Crown & Kettle – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper gem in Ancoats, with its rich history dating back to 1774 and a fresh re-establishment in 2020 that keeps things feeling vibrant. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the real stars are the award-winning craft beers, ales, and ciders; they're in perfect condition and offer something for everyone, whether you're a seasoned beer nerd or just after a refreshing pint. The building itself is stunning, especially after those recent renovations that opened up the space, and it's got this lovely mix of traditional charm and modern touches that make it a joy to visit. Events like quiz nights and a DJ spinning tunes add a fun, lively edge, and that outdoor seating area is a real bonus on nicer days. On the flip side, it does get packed, so if you're popping in on a busy evening, you might end up queuing for a table or navigating the crowds, and while the staff are friendly enough, they're more about getting the job done than going the extra mile. All in all, it's an inexpensive spot that's perfect for a casual catch-up with mates, but I'd say it's best enjoyed when you're in the mood for a bit of hustle and bustle rather than a serene escape.

Cons

-
Service is generally straightforward and reliable, but it's nothing out of the ordinary – just your standard pub experience without any wow factor.
-
The place is inexpensive, which is great, but with its popularity, it might feel a tad overwhelming if you're after a quiet pint.

We stopped by for a quick drink and sat in the spacious outdoor seating area. They have a ton of great beer options which is always the draw for a beer nerd like myself. It was very busy at the time we arrived as they had a quiz night in full swing. Service was pretty standard so no complaints.
Great Pub with plenty of beer, full of people and friendly staff. I really like the atmosphere and the building is lovely. If you wait a little while you’ll be able to grab a seat. 🍻 See you there for beer 😀
Always the first stop when getting into Manchester. The building is stunning, and it looks even better since they renovated the bar area and knocked through to the other side. Great selection of drinks and always fantastic music playing in the background. Highly recommended.
This is a place that definitely has a nice vibe with great drinks and cool staff. DJ Conner is definitely doing his thing with the turn table! I love this place. Highly recommend it!
The Crown and Kettle is a lovely pub with a good selection of cask and keg beers and ciders from various breweries all of which that we had were in perfect condition and was simply a pleasure to drink there. All in all a lovely pub that will suit everyone.
