About This Pub
Ah, The Crown – it's one of those pubs that really warms the cockles, tucked away in the heart of Islington with that timeless English vibe. From what I've gathered from folks' chats, the Sunday roasts steal the show; they're hearty, full of flavour, and just the thing after a long week, with juicy meat and plenty of veg to go around. The outdoor terrace is a lovely spot for whiling away a summer afternoon with a refreshing drink, and inside, the cosy fire and classic decor make it feel like a proper local hideaway. On the flip side, while the food's generally top-notch, a couple of people mentioned that some sides didn't quite live up to the mains, and it can take a moment for your order to arrive, which is fair enough since it's all made fresh. Overall, it's a solid choice for a get-together – not overly flashy, just reliably good with a friendly buzz that keeps you coming back for more.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Sunday roasts are absolutely spot on – fresh, generous portions with perfect meat and veg, making it a must-try for a proper weekend treat.
-
It's got that classic London pub charm with beautiful wooden interiors and a lovely outdoor terrace, ideal for soaking up the sun with a cold pint.
-
The location's spot on, just a short stroll from Angel Station, and it's managed by a welcoming team that makes you feel right at home.
-
Drinks are a highlight, from well-poured Peronis to full-bodied wines, with a good selection that caters to all tastes for a relaxed evening.
Cons
-
Some sides, like the pigs in blankets, might not hit the mark for everyone, as they can be a bit oversized and not quite to taste.
-
Food can take a little while to arrive, which shows it's freshly made but might feel a tad slow if you're in a rush.
-
It can get quite popular, so you might find it a bit bustling at peak times, which could make it harder to snag a quiet spot.

Very nice pub with great food. We visited on Sunday and, of course, ordered a Sunday roast, which turned out to be a bullseye, the best Sunday roast I have had in years. Perfect meat and a generous amount of vegetables. I recommend it and will definitely come back.
Super lovely pub, not too far from Angel Station. Been here a fair few times for food or just drinks, and it has always been a great experience!
It has a beautiful and traditional vibe to it, with wooden interiors and a nice outdoor area, perfect for days where the weather is good.
The food is very nice and the dining part is nicely segmented on one side of the bar. Additionally, they have a great selection of beer on tap (including being one of the few pubs in the are offering Lucky Saint – alcohol free beer – on tap), making this one of the favourites in the area!
Finally, the staff here are super nice and welcoming, making for a quiet and wonderful place to get a pint off the busy streets surrounding the pub.

Had an absolutely delicious Sunday roast here! The food took a reassuringly long enough time to arrive, so you know it's fresh. Lovely meat, crispy roasties and a huge Yorkshire pudding. We had pigs in blankets on the side which personally I want keen as they were huge rounds of sausage meat rather than mini sausages, but they were still good! Great service too - well worth a visit :)

🏛 Nice-looking corner pub with outdoor seating and street tables. Inside is a beautifully curved bowl-shaped bar and plenty of etched glass. I'd say there's been a fair amount of interior design done here, but it all looks classy. There's a bar area for drinkers and two dining areas for gastropub fans.
🙋♂️ The pub's a good one, if a little dark, and the food was very enjoyable. Clearly effort has gone in to creating the right mood.
🍺 Pretty standard. Siren and Deya stood out amongst London Pride and Hophead. Don't get me wrong, both of the latter are great pints, but they're everywhere. Also Amstel, Guinness and Peroni.
We went here after a really disappointing experience at The Albion and, fortunately, it was the best decision.
This pub is a real English pub. Nothing pretentious. Exactly what we were looking for.
The food was really good! We ordered a Sunday roast and triple fried fries. 10/10
They have a huuuuuge variety of tap beers! Really really good although a little bit expensive.£7 for a pint.
The service was great tho! People were very kind and attentive.
There was a very disgusting smell inside the pub that made us hesitate a lot if entering or not 😥
