About This Pub

Ah, The Crown Inn – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its newly refurbished charm and that homely feel. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the atmosphere is spot on; the staff are always chipping in with a friendly word, making it easy to settle in for a good natter. The food's a highlight for most – think fresh, tasty dishes like those prawns that had someone practically singing its praises, and portions that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. Plus, the garden's a lovely spot to relax with a drink, and it's great that they welcome dogs, so you can pop in after a stroll. On the flip side, it's not all roses; that Sunday lunch sounded like a letdown for one person, with the meat being a bit tough and fatty, which makes you wonder if it's worth the hype for a special meal. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together or a quiet pint, but maybe give the roasts a skip if you're after something foolproof. I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a grand time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The pub's been beautifully refurbished, making it feel fresh and inviting – it's like walking into a cosy hug after a long day.
  • The food is generally spot on, with fresh, delicious options like those juicy prawns that one mate raved about; it's a step above the usual pub grub.
  • Staff are super friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and happy to help, which really makes you feel at home.
  • There's a lovely pub garden with plenty of seating, perfect for enjoying a pint on a sunny afternoon.
  • It's dog-friendly, which is a real bonus if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop-off.
Cons
  • The Sunday lunch can be a bit hit or miss; one person mentioned the meat was tough and fatty, which is a shame after all that anticipation.
  • Food quality might not always be consistent, as that disappointing experience shows it can vary depending on what you order.

Recent Reviews

I went for Father's day Sunday Lunch and unfortunately left disappointed. I had been looking forward to this Lunch as the pub has recently been refurbished and new management. The pub is nice and clean but the food was a real let down mainly because of the meat. It was tough and fatty and the lamb had fragments of bones in it and had to keep spitting it in to my napkin as it wasn't edible. Stuffing balls were hard and unpleasant. Red cabbage with cinemon in it just destroyed the meal with overpowering flavours that didn't go with the other ingredients at all.I want to also add that instant mash is a cardinal sin and every pub/restaurant I eat at lately are all doing this. So disappointing that real mashed potatoes are apparently too much effort for a Chef these days. I hope this review will will influence the management to improve their food as £18 is not justified for a poor Sunday lunch. Yorkshire pudding was the only part of the meal that was good. Vegetables were swimming in water ( not drained before serving)

Newly refurbished and what a great job the new owners have done. It's very welcoming and the staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely pub garden with plenty of seating. The food was absolutely top notch. My first visit but certainly not my last. Highly recommend this place. Well done to all concerned with the refurbishment. It's fabulous

The food here is top notch. The Prawns Sakanaki. Oh my Lord. I was half expecting this to be the usual pub fare with frozen king prawns. The dish I was served was world's apart from a frozen king prawn. These prawns were fresh, juicy and super delicious. The Prawn Sakanaki is highly recommended if you like prawns. The baked feta was also extremely good. The friends I ate here with very much enjoyed their dishes as well. We were expecting to have to go up to the bar to order, but just as we were considering going up to place our order, one of the bar staff appeared to take our order at the table. The staff are delightful, cheery and friendly. It looks like the pub has recently been refurbished as well and the decor is fresh and clean. There is a big beer garden here as well, and a small off street car park, completing a magnificent pub experience.

An outstanding place, greeted by the landlord and welcomed in by locals. The food was all freshly cooked and decent size portions. A wide range of ales and drinks. The staff were all smiling and friendly to everyone a credit to the place. Overall will definitely be going back, well worth the 20 minute drive and would recommend A*
